I’ve always did my own wiring. I usually use 16/6 armored cable from summit electric in Harahan, when doing a bass or bay boat.

I’m planning on using the drop shot a little more often if needed. I really look forward to fishing with jerk baits too when it cools down.
I use those keitech swim baits with an owner flashyswimmer for redfish. There are good baits.

I wish LAFB was around when I was right out of high school., all I had was Louisiana sportsman magazines. And then the forums which were only for bragging and very much not informative. So you definitely found one of the best resources and communities for inshore fishing. Welcome and good luck!

This is what I experienced two weeks ago too. I did better on the points out toward the outside of Eloi and at the long rocks. Also with the river being lower Breton Sound should have better looking water and a lot of the areas haven’t been fished as aggressively since early spring. I went to the long rocks Saturday and it didn’t have the traffic early like it did earlier summer, but it also doesn’t have the fish it did earlier summer either. if you still want to fish around Comfort island I’d head further to the north end of Biloxi Marsh.

The Li time lithium batteries supposedly last 10 years. And I’ve heard good things on the battery and charger combos.
I worked for a marine electrical company a few years ago and Trojan batteries were what was used a for a lot of the swap outs I did. They were a bit pricey for a lead core battery.

Welcome to the site. A lot of members fish out of Hopedale, so you came to the right place!

I don’t have this specific one, this is much cheaper than the three I have. I have a GOAT 150, A Salty 150, and a Hundo.
My experience so far with these is great. I rinse them off every time I use them because they’re usually covered with slime and salt. My only complaint is that on the Hundo I’ve been using it to pitch and flip and on the adjustments I can’t see if I’m tightening or loosening them which has caused me to backlash it more than usual and the adjustment is only on the outside of the reel.
The GOAT 150 I use the most, I just got the Salty which is only $30 more. Casting wise they cast great better than my other brand reels.
But what I’m comparing them too isn’t $300+ reels. All my other reels are citica, curados, and daiwa tatulas.

MemberJuly 15, 2025 at 9:47 am in reply to: When does the Trout migration back inshore begin typicallyreally depends on where you fish, there is some passes that will have trout starting to migrate in mid August but it won’t be massive amounts of trout. September will better, October is usually really good. then Time change, or fall patterns start with the less light hours because it starts a hormonal change in the fish, also the shrimp migrate too. In the past I’d fish for bass in the summer with an occasional redfish trip and start to fish for trout as they migrated into the fall pattern, my favorite time to fish. There was some August fishing trips where I was fishing for redfish in Lake Catherine and just so happen to find a bunch of trout feeding unexpectedly and end up catching a mess.

I caught a lot of dinks in eloi on Friday, had a hard time leaving them after catching a couple nice trout.

Ditto! I got aluminum pieces that need to be rewelded on just little tack welds which will melt the carpet on top of deck. I don’t see this getting done at all at a dealership.

I was on SaltyCajun for a few years, but it was more of a rant and brag site, eventually degraded to a site where people paid a membership for a gill net section where people posted porn garbage. I left that site around 10 years ago. I liked LAFB too and when it went to Facebook group, I eventually stopped posting. I like This format so much better. Just fishing, no garbage!

I always keep spare prop pins. Those break in heavy grass, mud bottom, rocks.
I also always change the cable to a coated stainless steel cable vs the rope.

I think hitting bottom between pops is really the key, I usually count 1 second per ft on drop estimating my pops are pulling it 3-5 ft off bottom.
