When it’s first open, the trout fishing is usually good until it’s all fresh water. In the past usually caught a lot of redfish until algae blooms start happening. After we get algae, have to move around more and find clean water. Usually stop fishing the lake and start fishing ICW and borgne or start going out to fish summer pattern (rigs and islands).

I always use an 1/8th or 1/16th, because 1/4 and 3/8 are better suited for straight jig fishing. IMO! and also if your throwing a cork regardless of weight your lure is still getting in the same strike zone because of the leader length. and also usually when you buy a pack of jigs there is more 1/8th oz or 1/16 oz jigs in a pack than the 1/4 or 3/8. I make my own jigs now so I’m not so concerned about cost of jigs and how many I have. I’ll use a little heavier of a jig with a cork only if the water is super rough, but also try to avoid those conditions.

</div><div>My answer! I usually keep forward momentum even if I have to make the trout do a figure 8 in the water, just don’t let your line go slack. If you have one on a hard plastic jerk bait use the net. Those treble hooks do their job well.</div>

I’ve been trying to get back on it, I caught a 24inch on the train bridge. in march. Would love to beat that before summer.

The little island by spot 5 go on outside of that island, it’s usually only 1 ft and that area is full of oyster shells. ( I’ve drifted it several times caught trout) There is some poles marking oyster reefs. That running outside of them will keep you in 3-4ft depth.

the tide was incoming today, regardless of the wind. If he was on the west side of the bridge that would be correct. Also when fishing the tressles make sure your tide info is correct. the water in the Lake is still falling when the tide chart for the rigolets shows that it is already starting to rise (vise versa) even though the tide chart is reading a location only a couple miles away. I often look at tide for Bonfonca to determine what the tide is doing when fishing the tressles.

Make sure your power supply amperage is 20 percent or more than your gps’s amperage draw For example if your pulling 6amps you would want at least an 8 amp power supply. Also make sure it’s 12v. Amperage is key not enough amps and it will burn out power supply. Not to be confused with the amperage from your wall outlet which is irrelevant when using a converter.

    I sure hope not.

I remember discovering the blog and the podcast. I wish the podcast would comeback that would be a good listen for my long drives during the week.

Best time to fish the pearl, Nov, Dec,Jan, Feb, March, July is usually good too. I often launch from the public launch on 90 at east pearl, I’ll go to ICW, lake Catherine for reds in summer and then if that don’t work out I fish west pearl for bass. It’s a free launch. I’ll launch from the rigolets too and go to the west pearl, it’s not much of a difference in ride. Pearl river is a great place to bass fish and it’s a great option for when the wind is too bad to fish in the lake.

I drift fished a lot of this in October, did good. Last month I fished this area on the beginning of one of my trips behind the dam. Caught throwbacks. But that’s not saying those trout haven’t grown since then. It’s still worth trying. The wind forecast is good for that day too. The tide could be better.

I started at the dam and made the decision that the wind wasn’t too much. On my way back, lake Anastasio had me rocking on the way back. But I really should have gone back spoil canal route. Thanks for posting the route you did I was actually wondering about that route, I fish half moon quite often but usually don’t go as far out as eloi.
