Happy Jacks used to be my home base for years when I lived in Belle Chasse. We go down there once in a while when the water in Delacroix is really low or we just want a change of pace. You’re in the right areas, those camps will turn on any time now.

Sounds like you got those kids interest piqued, keep up the good work. Women and children on boats is exhausting, but it’s a labor of love.

Thanks for that awesome report. I’m in the same boat, pun intended, as I’m going to start fishing Venice this year. I only have a 90 Yamaha on an 18′ boat, so I’m not sure how far down the south west pass I can get. I’m going to do like you did and just play the conditions and learn the area.

I’ve been down some of those canals that lead out to like Fleur And and Yankee Pond, and that’s a safe run on a windy I think. I hear you don’t trout out that way but you do catch reds.

It’s only going to keep getting better moving forward

I didn’t know about this, how’d I miss the memo?

I think I saw you. You were by yourself in a green metal hull boat? I was in a camouflage War Eagle with 3 guys in my boat. We fished the south side of Lake Lery starting at daybreak.

Pretty much the same story. We fished those cuts in the south side of the lake and with 3 mines in the water we put two keepers in the boat and lost 2 others. Broke my heart when he broke my hook

I need to do my report, I’m just gasping for air at work

I had my boat in the shop for something else and my mechanic noticed that my fuel line in the motor had gotten kinked up. He was surprised that it was running fine. I have no idea how that happened.

I’ll eat the hell out of white trout. They punch above their weight which makes them fun to catch

yeah, I got alcohol on my boat. The other thing to keep in mind is that if you have any symptoms such as nausea or diarreah after a cut to go to the ER

Great, please do. I work for myself and although my boss is an asshole, I can usually get off any time I want.

Limited out today with my buddy. Got my tolling motor fixed and could travel. Only caught two on the south side of Lake Lery and caught the rest in that area between Lery and Lost Lake. Doing a report now.

No worms at all the filets were great. My father in law and I had the largest ones and when I pulled them off the grill I laughed and said that we’d both have leftovers, but both of ate every last bite. You’d have thought they were redfish

We loved loading up on those black drums too. I’m going to do it again this weekend because for this time of year it’s a better payoff:effort ratio. I drive there in 30 minutes and have lines wet 10 minutes after the launch. Maybe we’ll hit some reds this weekend
