Welcome! I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of the courses and forum discussions. I have.

What a shame. We haven’t seen anything yet.

If anyone’s interested there’s a guy in BTR that’ll get you out pretty quick and he’s reasonable. He works on all engines but primarily he’s a Mercury guy. His name is David Wade and his business name is David Wade’s Marine 225-752-3789. Great guy and extremely knowledgeable.

Yeah. I fished there Saturday and the water was extremely low; however we managed to keep ten nice trout but no reds. That’s a shallow area you have to be very careful. Good job and great report!

Thank you Devin. I hav no idea of its history since I’ve never fished in this area but it looks like a promising area to try.

Hey Devin, I really appreciate the input I just wasn’t sure I was looking at the right spots. Yes sir I always have a spare set of clothes and rain gear. I’m a pilot and we always bring a spare set of clothes with the mindset of “if you bring them you probably won’t need them! Lol”
Thanks again and if I haven’t said this LAFB IS the best forum I’ve seen for what we do…inshore fishing! GREAT JOB NO BS!

You know the old saying, “you should have been here yesterday!” Thank you for saving our trip because we were headed to Oak river where most people bombed out. We had a great trip, wet but great!

Thank you Will, I really appreciate the help! I’ve not fished the Hopedale area and I’m from BTR so I’m trying to find places a little closer than where I typically fish which is the Venice area. This is very helpful and I’m going to try later this week when temps get a little bit better! Thanks again!

I don’t know if you guys saw this little article I ran across: https://lailluminator.com/briefs/wildlife-officials-warn-freezing-conditions-could-kill-fish-across-louisiana/

Well the worse possible scenario is here, the only places trout survived are in the deeper areas. This is going to take management to get the already decimated population back up again and hopefully we don’t have any more weather that will further destroy the population since we still have February and March to go through. Hopefully LDWF will have the insight to put some restrictions on trout temporarily to help the population rebound. I personally will not be taking any more trout this year in the inside waters, all catch and release. One silver lining, maybe, It doesn’t look like the red fish population was hit as hard but were only seeing trout pictures so far. Now the NO flotilla will be ganged up in droves in the deeper areas LP, ICW, Rigolets areas. They’re going to have to install stop signs and traffic lights with all of the boats that will probably concentrate in smaller areas. lol!

I agree. We’re going to need all the swimming trout we have left if this goes the way it’s looking. This may be the time to catch a couple reds if you want fish to eat and release the rest. This is going to be tough times on the populations.

We’re going to try and decimate the population a lil!

I was wondering how you did. I think I’m going to shift gears and fish further east. Heck I’ll try the marina and I mapped out about thirty other spots south. They have shrimp so the shrimp must be in that area. Thanks for the heads up!

How was the boat traffic down there?

That’s good information! I had thought about Myrtle Grove or Delacroix and decided to hit Oak River.
