    Devin,

It looks like Lake town in Kenner has a pretty good launch. Do you recommend any others that would be better?

Sure, Elmers Island and those areas are a long haul for me out of BTR. With that being said, I’ve been wanting to fish the West side of the lake and power lines for reds but have concentrated south so I think that’s going to be the game plan for Saturday. The course on power line reds was really good, I’ll see how it works out for me.

As always thank you for the feedback!

Ok. So the incoming tide will dirty the water when the rivers are high. Will the areas clean up on an outgoing tide and would it be better to fish with an outgoing tide in these areas? I’m planning to fish Saturday EBM and the rigs and reefs in NW LB. It may be clean under the dirty water? What do you think Devin?

Thanks Timbo, It didn’t seem to be an over technical style of fishing but around rigs and bridges I think it has it’s place. I don’t know if I would spend a day on it but when things are not looking good it may be a good time to start. I just wasn’t sure if you worked the rig or if you basically tight lined it and let the current do the work.

I’m headed to work the same plan as you did but I’ve decided to stay to the west of GI around Beuragard Isle and the camps. We were eating dinner tonight at GI Marina and the shrimp boats were piled up in Barataria pass. We’ll see tomorrow.

Thank you Devin and John, I’ve added these markers to my initial plan. I had a little trouble with the Four Horse Bayou area but I believe I’m close. Yes, they have a redfish slot and I am working on a RF plan too which I’m going to let you guys look at to see if I’m in the ballpark. I looked at going through the marsh to Timbalier if the winds weren’t cooperating but from what I see it may be easier just to pick up and relaunch at Moran’s to fish this area especially if the winds aren’t favorable the probably wont be to favorable on the gulf side either. It’s nothing to trailer from GI to Pot Fourchon vs and hour or more by boat especially not knowing the area, it looks like a maze to me on GED. I’m running the plan this weekend and the weather and tides look really good. If the seas are cooperating and it really is 1 foot or less as predicted I’m going to try for mangrove at the short rigs.

I decided to make a test run this weekend and booked a place for Friday and Saturday night with intent to fish Friday PM, Sat and Sunday. Not knowing anything about the area but looking at GED and suggestions this is what I think may work. Any thoughts or direction will be greatly appreciated.

You should really begin looking the area over in GED and previous
reports here in this forum. This place isn’t even a year old yet and
it’s already got a good little archive. Do that and the ideas will flow
    in.

Yes, I’ve been looking through the files and past history to get an idea of where to run and not run just wasn’t sure where the fish may have moved down to. I look at West Bank Josh’s reports which seem to be focused in this area.

After that, what are your goals for this tournament? My Goal would be to bring in the heaviest trout and win but realistically I only entered to support my customer’s effort to donate to United Way. The tournament is secondary to catching fish.

    Are you going in
your boat? Yes, I’m going in my 20Ft Ranger Bass Boat.

What equipment do you have for navigating this area? GPS unit
and mapping card?<i class=””> I have a Lowrance Elite FS but I don’t use any mapping cards; however; I do use Lowrance’s map version C-map. It’s been pretty good so far. I’m not really a fan of mapping cards since they are not up to date and GED is my go to mapping source. I upload my GED files to the Lowrance before my trips after planning and download them when I’m done so I have a fresh screen each time I fish. I do keep a backup file in storage on the GPS if ever needed.

I really appreciate everyone’s help in getting started in the right direction and build a plan from the feedback I get.

    Thanks Devin!

Thank you! Now I have some feel as to what to do, I had no idea. I appreciate your help and I’m looking forward to the trip. I may go this weekend and stay a couple days to get a feel for next week…in other words practice😁

Awesome. So you guys are using croakers down there off of the beach, cool. I’m hoping by midweek next week they’ll start showing back up and settle down some from the weekend traffic. Are you guys tight lining croakers in the surf, what size weight do you use? I’ve never fished the beaches before and I don’t have much of a clue about this style fishing??

Yeah, if you go let me know or if you talk to any of your friends down there that would be helpful since I’m runnin and gunnin blind😂
