I have been reviewing and studying our courses since my Hopedale trip where I felt I did poorly and I’m pretty confident now I will find the fish. My trips to Venice made a mediocre angler look like a pro.

I’ve been looking at PLH too your plan is similar to what I have been planning. With the river at 2′ I bet the water is extremely clear. That point south of tideline 2 maybe worth checking out too. I’m looking forward to your fishing report.

Wow that had to be a heck of a good time and an awesome trip! I like your setup, after going thru the sight fishing mastery class I would like something similar and stealthy.

Great job finding the fish and thanks for the report. Hopedale is one of my favorite places to fish.

I figured it was going to be tough with the front moving through tonight, high winds, falling temps, and high pressure. Seeing y’alls report kinda verifies that, but I got to give it a shot. I’m going to fish slow, deep and see where the cards fall. I do have a Texas rigged crawfish ready to go for backup. I will be limited by the winds early because I don’t wanna get wet, so I will creep down Tiger Pass. I seen a few spots on GED that I think has some potential and hopefully with my strategy it pays dividends.

Friday morning I came thru Grand Lake, Orange Bayou, Oak River, and the birds was everywhere. My thoughts was this has to be stellar hunting.

This was as far as I could go. They have a channel marked with white pipes by 1st bay heading towards the well head. It started out 3’ deep then shallowed up I looked all over for a way to get thru. Yes I did change my route to the one you gave me and it is on the kml file I posted. This area was mostly a mud flat.
As far as Mardi Gras Pass I enjoyed graphing it and was impressed with the graphics and details my unit provided.

I attached a kml file for easier review. I used the 11/1/2020 imagery from the historical imagery in GED while making my routes. It had the lowest water with visible mud flats and I realize it is five years old with more than likely a lot of silting in has occurred. My plan is to take my time thru all these unfamiliar areas and lay down some good tracks for spring. Thank you for the overview and advice I will definitely put it to use. I’m also assuming Oak River is known by GED as River Aux Chenes.

Thanks for the feedback and confidence you have in me.
” Higher quality and quantity trout are always nearer river water.”
This statement is the answer to some questions I have been asking myself. I will keep this in mind

The wind doesn’t stop me it just puts limitations where I go. As far as the fish I don’t know where they are at, that’s the joy I get from inshore fishing. It’s a big puzzle for me, sometimes the big pieces are there and it’s easy to put together, then you have the little pieces that is much more difficult. I do know the charters are whacking them with inexperience anglers most of the time. Of course they have advantages over me with experience, knowing the area, keeping up with the fish, and live bait. That being said if they can do it I can too. I find it mind boggling and frustrating at times, but I have the tools and knowledge its just a matter of putting it to work. When I do find them and get on them it is a thrill a sense of satisfaction. The tug is a drug!

I fished it again today and only caught 12 keepers but the white trout was present and thick as thieves.

They were aggressive and as fast as I could pull them up. DOA shrimp on a carolina rig with a 1 oz bank sinker. Cast it, keep line tight, once hits bottom lift your rod 2 to 3’ and once the weight touches bottom again repeat. The shrimp flutters behind and covers a lot of water quickly. Every where else was painfully slow.

Great idea, I did some graphing down Grand Pass and seen some nice structure with hills and holes not far from the 3 way. They may have moved some they definitely wouldn’t use as much energy as they would in that strong current. Also I know they were feeding on shrimp in the Jump and I wonder if the shrimp are starting to thin out due to migration and they are starting to forage on fin fish. Just a thought I had.
