I figured it was going to be tough with the front moving through tonight, high winds, falling temps, and high pressure. Seeing y’alls report kinda verifies that, but I got to give it a shot. I’m going to fish slow, deep and see where the cards fall. I do have a Texas rigged crawfish ready to go for backup. I will be limited by the winds early because I don’t wanna get wet, so I will creep down Tiger Pass. I seen a few spots on GED that I think has some potential and hopefully with my strategy it pays dividends.

I would consider Venice being it is the Mecca of fishing.

Stellar! This is why I joined LAFB to learn how to go stand on the fish when no one else can or conditions aren’t favorable.

I fished it again today and only caught 12 keepers but the white trout was present and thick as thieves.

They were aggressive and as fast as I could pull them up. DOA shrimp on a carolina rig with a 1 oz bank sinker. Cast it, keep line tight, once hits bottom lift your rod 2 to 3’ and once the weight touches bottom again repeat. The shrimp flutters behind and covers a lot of water quickly. Every where else was painfully slow.

Great idea, I did some graphing down Grand Pass and seen some nice structure with hills and holes not far from the 3 way. They may have moved some they definitely wouldn’t use as much energy as they would in that strong current. Also I know they were feeding on shrimp in the Jump and I wonder if the shrimp are starting to thin out due to migration and they are starting to forage on fin fish. Just a thought I had.

I fish it with a 20′ Avid aluminum boat. I see countless flat boats running all over the place.

It did look good in there and wished I could have spent more time. But once I heard those shots my first thought was I hope they aren’t rabbit or deer hunting, I could be incidentally in the firing line. I wasn’t interested in being a stat and I bolted.

It’s not out the question. I’ve been study the river and area up to Buras. I feel comfortable to make a trip up there and give it a try. That being said I’m still a rookie ( I’ve only been inshore fishing 6 or 7 months) and find it gratifying whacking the hell out of the fish. Also looking forward to see what’s up with this drop n pressure.

Great Ideal I’m going to incorporate that into my plan.
