@Devin on 11/4 when I went we caught throw backs pretty much every cast on Lake Mechant (where Bayou Raccourci dumps into Mechant and where Mechant meets Goose bay, however on the same day I learned people were catching plenty of keepers in the South end of Mechant right before Grand Pass (pic below). So the trout is definitely on the move. Not sure if this past cold front pushed them into decade yet but when I went decade was a ghost town.

I really appreciate you taking the time to give me some pointers. I will wait until Friday and see if the weather looks any better and make a decision on if im going or not. If I was fishing alone I would definitely give it a shot, but ill have two people that will be fishing in Louisiana for the first time and its gonna be windy, wet and cold so I don’t really want to make that an painful experience for them. I’m just praying this weather gets a little better

you didnt have any problems with wild life and fisheries with that area being WMA?

I’ll be there sunday and monday. I like your plan, a little different from mine but is definitely something i want to explore one day, that East Bay area. Only thing i would point our is be careful on that spot behind the island (photo below). If you plan on navigating through that channel its very shallow, i was just there two weeks ago. I would definitely go through the outside of it

Anywhere in the Southwest pass has potential to hold fish. If its your first time heading down there i would strongly suggest you make a little more detailed plan and show us the spots you plan on fishing, maybe we can give feedback on them, but most important, you HAVE TO MAKE A SAFE ROUTE!!!! Take close look on GED and plan a safe route towards SW Pass and share it with us. Venice is a place you dont want to risk and lose your lower unit or get stuck. Most of us cross Zin Zin to make it to the first spillway.

Awesome. Please give me some feedback. I’m going super blind, I never been there before. Also I passed through there yesterday (ICWE) and the water was verrrry pretty

I must have seen something wrong for sure because I even remember being chocked when I seen the river was predicted to be back in the 5 so quick. I checked it last day before the trip but I must have missed something

Also in return for your help, I’ll definitely have some feedback for you by next Thursday on bievenue, dularge and dulac. I’ll spend 4 days fishing plenty of different areas

Thank you brother. I’ll take a look at your report. Wind predictions is looking very bad for my trip. Yesterday was looking perfect but now it’s getting worse

Honestly I’m having second thoughts about going to Venice. Yesterday when I wrote the plan the wind prediction was 5-10 mph, now is much worse and wet, I’ve been watching it all day. I guess I will wait until about Friday and then make a decision, I’m afraid the wind, rain and cold might just make the trip miserable for somebody out of town just trying to have fun fishing and exploring. If that’s the case I’m guessing the best bet is “fish the condition”, get my butt in front of GED and recalculate the route based on Mother Nature wishes?? Thanks for the feedback

if you look at my planing for my trip i have a safe route to the first spillway

Awesome brother. I’m working on a fishing plan for tuesday next week, is gonna be my first time fishing there so i can definitely use your feedback once i post it.
