So as soon as you turn into that bayou from Baptist make sure you on plane, or go really slow because there’s a sand bar right in the mouth. I fished it pretty hard and there’s plenty of water in there. I didn’t go past the black circle tho. FYI that line you made it’s a bass gold mine

Unfortunately I can’t help you much there bro because I always take the river to head that way. Last time I thought about taking the route you have chosen, I had people telling me not to go there. But please if you find a safe route avoiding the river let me know because I’ve been looking for one. If I can’t find one I’ll just run there really slow and figure it out

Both actually. Im looking for a brand that got, most importantly, good costumer service and hustle free when it comes to warranty claims. Shimano has been my number 1 so far but prices are getting a little stupid. $350 for a reel i used to pay $250. And as far as the specifics, i’m looking to replace a couple bait casters (7.2.1 gear ratios size 100 or 1500) that i use on quite few different scenarios. From jigging for trout, to fishing peacock bass in the amazon jungle with topwater lures

It was a 2 hours drive from where i live to give up lol I have a boat that can handle a little rough water but i was definitely pushing my limits. That island did me really good about 10 years ago, and i havent fished there since

Definitely got unfinished business with fourchon. Next time im home from work in a couple of weeks ill definitely give it another shot and hopefully conditions will let me fish the barges. I had great fishing trips there a few years ago, and now i fell i have a little more knowledge on the subject to approach the place a little different. Without live shrimp lol

“I suppose trout can be anywhere on them, but think about how trout use current breaks and you will figure it out by the time you’re done reading this sentence.”

YES!! already put a pin on the spots exactly so i can graph it and find it when i get there!!!! Photo from 1995 shows it perfectly

Well we got a solid plan! tomorrow ill report back hopefully with a successful report!!

“I’m wondering why you’re not including the 4 mile long accidental artificial reef?”

I honestly did not remember about the timbalier rocks (if that’s the reef you are referring to). Its time for a 101 refresher! but i will definitely add it to the plan so we have a feedback on it (if we are talking about the same place, picture attached below)

“Also, don’t forget Belle Pass or Fourchon Barges.”

That’s the plan for sure. I wasn’t sure if i should start at the barges and belle pass or Timbalier. Since the weather will be calmer first thing in the morning i had decided to start at my furthest fishing spot (timbalier) and work my way back (fishing the barges and belle pass last).
