I hope this post is in the proper place……
I grew up bass fishing. Fished a lot in the marsh through the years, but always with a guide. Bought a bay boat in the fall with the notion of figuring out the marsh before the Good Lord called me home, which is a lot shorter time than most of you here.
This course is a game changer. I learned more about fishing the marsh than I ever expected when I started. And it has paid off. We don’t catch limits of trout or redfish every time we go. But we are competitive and rarely get skunked. It is an awesome learning tool.
Now, if I could learn how to post routes and fishing spots like you pros do, maybe I could make a few planning posts going forward!

Thanks to all who replied. I will definitely seek further guidance when I put together a preliminary plan for Venice.

Tough day. Started north side of Robin. Caught 5 keepers all with plastic under cork at first spot. Tide falling all day. No shrimp jumping. Nothing but dinks the rest of the day. Water ok except shrimp boats stirring it up on east side of Robin. No birds at all. And calm as glass.

Ok. I meant Biloxi marsh. Thank you for your input.

I am such a newbie it is not even funny.

Every fish caught with plastic under cork. No diving birds at all.

Thank you. I have not been to Venice and am honestly a little intimidated. I need to do a lot more homework before I venture out into “lower unit destruction land!”

Clean water and positive fishing reports for trout. We will shoot for redfish the next day in Delacroix. Not much water in the marsh now.

I’ve heard you guys talk of The Jump? Where is that actually located? Is it in the main channel of the river? I want to learn this area.

I sure will. I do appreciate everyone’s help. I have historically just hired a guide to put me on the fish. So I am new to doing this on my own. A lot of fun, for sure, and a big challenge too.

I’d say as advertised. 5-10 out of the east. Not bad at all.

7 keeper redfish in sun lagoon area today. Had two more break off at the boat. 3 – 4 throwbacks. Water was pretty. And moving much faster than I expected. 6 on dead shrimp. 1 on matrix. Done by noon.
