Have you looked into copolymer lines? I really like it, its not as expensive as fluorocarbon.

Copolymer fishing line is created by blending two different polymers, often types of nylon, into a single strand. Unlike braided lines, it is not made of multiple woven strands. Some copolymer lines may also include a fluorocarbon coating or infusion, enhancing invisibility underwater and abrasion resistance while maintaining the flexibility of monofilament lines

Its a happy medium between the two basically. I usually order mine from tacklewarehouse.com

Not the best day, ended up catching between 30-40 trout. But only 1 measured above 13”. The bait in the area was unbelievable, tons of action all day but just lacked size. I believe this area is on the brink of turning on just need that first cold front to kick things off. Did manage to pick up some random reds throughout the day so I didn’t come home empty handed.

Grand pass definitely seems like it would be productive also, I just don’t know if I’ll how comfortable I am in a in a little aluminum boat running that far south. @Devin I did see your fall post on this also and would definitely be trying that if the wind was 5-10 instead of 10-15. Who knows though, might get a feel on how the day is going and if it seems like I can make the run further south that is what I will do.

Yeah I know where you are talking about behind the jail, my family recently got a camp close to T-IRVS and that’s been where I have been coming out of, this area is all new to me and I have been a freshwater fisherman most of the past 10 years and just recently getting back into saltwater.

I struck out as far as the reds went. Next time I go I’m planning on targeting the lake boudroux area. I did manage a too catch plenty of specks though, just none that were keepers. Hopefully in the next few weeks some of the larger trout start making their way further in.
