Morning Session (Early Run / Dark)

    • Time & Conditions: Headed out around 6:00 AM running in the dark; tide and wind matched your original plan. No diving birds seen anywhere all morning.
    • Stops & Observations:

      • Hopedale Lagoon: Stopped briefly; saw bait, but water visibility/quality was hard to make out in the dark.
      • Robin (Water Dump): Water was ripping out. Shrimp popping, dark enough that you could almost see a cork. Worked the current line briefly; water quality looked “meh to not good” despite the bait.
      • Coquille (Inshore 101 Point): Worked the current line. Bait was everywhere, but water conditions were still subpar.
      • Drains & Islands: Explored various marsh drains, points, and a sunken island—all featured active current lines and bait, but lacked fish holding on them.
    • Catch: 1 keeper trout (released on the way in).

    Afternoon Session (Rising Tide)

    • Conditions: Rising tide; wind and general conditions remained similar to the morning. Still no birds working in Robin or Coquille.
    • Locations: Checked Robin and Coquille again, finding scattered bait.
    • Catch:

      • 2 keeper trout
      • A couple of white trout (saved for snapper bait)
      • 2 nice redfish

    Game Plan for Tomorrow

    • Strategy: Head back out to stick with the original plan, similar tide and wind setup. Had 2 different people i know run it and one caught a 2 man limit the other had a late start and scooped up 9.

That happened to me once with a new battery. I stayed in one spot too long with the graph and livewell running. I bought a dedicated 100ah mini lithium battery for my graphs, active target, and lights. I rarely use live bait anymore, and I keep a jump starter on board just in case. I haven’t had any issues since. I run one cranking battery, one for electronics, and two for the trolling motor. It’s a bit overkill for an 18-footer, but I’m often on the edge of the sound and getting home safely is my priority after fishing.

You should go see Jason Watts over there, he’s a great guy. He just installed my 24″ phantom radar, Sionyx nightwave camera, Garmin Kraken trolling motor, and a battery charger. They don’t sell lithium batteries, so I bought and installed those myself, but his work was incredibly meticulous. They covered the whole deck to keep it clean, and the wiring is super neat. He went over everything with me when I picked it up, and he even has the satellite cards for the GPS too.

Try this if you’re still looking. Have 35ft and 45 ft full enclosed units. Plus power to keepba trickle charger on. https://share.google/p8AU3Vp6PT4Kas280

What graph do you run? I picked up the relief shading for Garmin and it’s great for scouting out those fish havens. Here are two screenshots of it. Sorry I marked them all up with waypoints, but it makes them easier to spot when I’m out there. I fished them a couple weeks back right before snapper season closed and caught 40-50 red snapper under 16″ and one 17″ keeper—no mangroves or vermillion, just baby reds. I did land one 32″ cobia, but he didn’t make the cut.

What’s your email? I’ll send you Larry’s number. He will be the one to handle everything. Yea being able to leave all your tackle and trolling motor in the boat, go there and work on tackle the night before plus all the stuff that is just in the garage at home or laying around the house to have somewhere to store it with 24hr excess and the gate is always closed. Can’t really beat it.

$300/month includes 110v power. I believe there is availability on the new section across the street.
