But Venice is soooo far…. Lmao

I’m probably going to Breton sound. Or maybe ship/horn islands.

Will write a quick planning trip when I decide tomorrow. Can’t pass up this weekend’s conditions.

Those routes you have chosen are fine, I have run them in a 24’ bay boat without any issues. I have not gone into those little cuts and coves on cat island so I can’t advise to that. Haven’t fished cat this year, but I did fish the NE Biloxi marsh launching at PC harbor. You may try cabbage reef on your way to isle au pitre/grand pass. The hammer trout have been there a couple weeks ago but it depends on the wind and salinity that far west of the deeper sound waters. We had some success around murder bayou also, but that’s a couple miles further south of your planned areas. Not too far though. As far as the islands, we have been catching trout at ship and Horn. The tactic is to sight for rafting mullets and other bait fish. When you find them between the breakers and the main land beach, pick out a pocket of water 4-10 fr deep and fish the bottom. Not many throwbacks, mostly beautiful trout and annoying blue fish. If they are there, they will hit most any plastic swim baits. Current will dictate jig head size. Don’t be opposed to fishing plastics 2-4’ under a cork either. Also- try between the breakers/holes and the beach. we pulled 7-8 twenty inch plus trout from the surf just off the beach!

As far as reds, I hardly ever target them but we did catch a couple pretty slots in the same spots as trout. They were almost silver, hardly no red color at all

Good luck, can’t wait to read your report.

Yes sir, Roger that! When you commented recently about the people at hopedale marina “being in a mood” I wasn’t sure what you meant until I launched there last week. Glen used to be grumpy sometimes but he never yelled at me lol. The people there now are…different. I was the first one to launch at hopedale friday morning and parked my rig inside the cones in the parking lot. My dad went upstairs to pay for the launch and the woman had a bad attitude and told him to move the truck immediately because someone was gonna hit it. WTF? really? I parked it where everybody has parking their rigs since i can remember. My dad moved the truck/trailer and we went fishing. We get back and there are no less than 6 trucks/trailers parked exactly along the same line I originally parked. I’ll just give my money to robbie and the good guys at campos from now on… LMAO even if it is a longer run to certain places

Copy that. Thank you for the information and, more so, for the substantive reply. I’m not on social media, don’t really care about regurgitated information from people with little experience who’s knowledge comes from others on social media (lol) and really appreciate the wealth of knowledge that you share in this forum. There is no other like it as far as I am aware. A lot of people only share their largely successful trips sort of like the people who only tell you about their winnings at the casino and not their losses. I’m not ashamed of less successful fishing trips. I’ve been fishing long enough to realize that even in the most promising conditions, the biggest variable by far is “there has to be fish present”. Those little suckers have fins after all. Hahaha

That’s a good plan. High tide was predicted around 07:10 this morning at Breton island. It didn’t flip until around 08:30 and it was not as strong. I guess in retrospect, I could’ve fished the falling tide today at the rigs, but the air temp was warming up so quickly that I still feel I gave myself the best chance By getting out early.

Honestly man, that’s a tough question to answer. I don’t see the current changing very much in 24 hours so I’m willing to bet it’s still gonna be ripping. What I would personally do is I would run to Gosier, but I tend to go big before I go small. I think there’s no doubt you could put some nice fish in a box at Breton if you want to pick through some of the smaller guys.

BOOM ! 💥that’s what I’m talking about. Breton/Central slam. Good report and great success. I’m planning to head out there myself week of the 27th. Thanks for sharing.

Verizon and T-Mobile both have satellite comms built in on the newer iPhones as the previous reply stated. I have used Verizon’s service as early as 3 days ago out in the chandelier sound and it does work. FYI- you must have a clear view of the sky, orient the device toward the relevant satellite as your phone guides you, and maintain that position while sending and receiving texts. This will not be a solution if you are in real deep doodoo, i.e. total loss of power onboard and on devices, capsized and or lost phone in the water, etc.

Roger that sir. I agree 100% with everything you’ve said. Original plan was to go yesterday but my buddy wanted to reschedule for today. I blamed the wind on him as we were taking a butt whoopin coming in hahaha.

If I’m going to central, Gosier, Breton islands area as my original course of action then I’m launching at campo/BSM. Breton sound is my fave in the summer. I like big trout and I cannot lie, redfish are… meh.

Today was still a win in my book to box a few nice girls in adverse conditions.
