Verizon and T-Mobile both have satellite comms built in on the newer iPhones as the previous reply stated. I have used Verizon’s service as early as 3 days ago out in the chandelier sound and it does work. FYI- you must have a clear view of the sky, orient the device toward the relevant satellite as your phone guides you, and maintain that position while sending and receiving texts. This will not be a solution if you are in real deep doodoo, i.e. total loss of power onboard and on devices, capsized and or lost phone in the water, etc.

Roger that sir. I agree 100% with everything you’ve said. Original plan was to go yesterday but my buddy wanted to reschedule for today. I blamed the wind on him as we were taking a butt whoopin coming in hahaha.
If I’m going to central, Gosier, Breton islands area as my original course of action then I’m launching at campo/BSM. Breton sound is my fave in the summer. I like big trout and I cannot lie, redfish are… meh.
Today was still a win in my book to box a few nice girls in adverse conditions.

NOAA marine forecast it’s pretty consistently the closest you’re gonna get to reality. Every TV forecaster draws from this, and they get paid to sell doom and gloom. Best case scenario is the TV forecast just puts their spin on the NOAA forecast. get on the water as early as you feel confident and if you dont have radar, I would be scanning the horizon constantly looking for building storms. Summertime in the coastal south, it’s going to rain somewhere every day in the afternoon. It’s nearly impossible to pinpoint exactly where those pop-up showers will generate.
