***DISCLAIMER: DO NOT LET THIS REPORT DISCOURAGE YOU FROM FISHING THE JUMP FOR TWOUT.***
While I respect the hell out of these guys. They are fresh off a couple crushing defeats delivered by Team Giggalo and this is a rebuilding year for their confidence. Revisit IF:101, specifically Deep Holes.
Keep pushing and tight lines!

I used to be a big Shimano guy, especially the japanese made old school curados. The new stuff from Malaysia is junk. I picked up some Abu Garcia reels from Professional in the CBD(great used selection of rods and reels HIGHLY recommend) New Orleans and have bought another one since. Just puts up with a ton of abuse and still casts amazing.
6’6″ medium heavy action Castaway
Abu Garcia Max 4 STX Low Profile
Here’s why. These pool noodle medium fast feel great and have good action but my experience is a trout bites, you set the hook creating a parobolic bow in the rod and then it snaps back and creates this slack allowing the hook to unset and the fish to get away.
With a medium heavy, one flick of the wrist and you can set the hook and the trout stays pinned. Also good backbone for the occasional red or gator trout.

I have seen shrimp reports everywhere along the lakefront but there doesn’t seem to be the trout following them yet. I went out a couple days ago and got skunked, like hard. Need a couple good fronts to come through to drop the temp imho. All the trout I’ve caught in the past month have been near the Gulf on grassbeds. I’m gonna keep on that pattern until it stops working.

Florida bucket list fish for me, along with snook & tarpon.

You should’ve taken that bass, cut it in half, gone to unknown pass and picked up a shark, and won the other category.
Old man Fitzmorris went full boomer and posted a pic of his 2nd place $500 check. Edit that thing and e-deposit it into your account.
It’s not over till it’s over!

MemberSeptember 30, 2025 at 10:07 pm in reply to: VENICE 9/26/2025 FAT LADIES AND SHARKS…I think the beach bite is very early, concentrated, and you gotta keep drifting and rounding the point until you find them. If you remember we were about to bounce when we tripled up, and the same thing happened when we went in May, went to pull the trolling motor and smashed them. I would’ve kept the ladies and spanish for snapper bait and hit the rigs we went to 1st.
If the weather was good this weekend, I would be trying SW Pass and then run to the natural bottom outside the pass for snapper or where @DrillNFill found them 2nd day.
My next fishing opportunity will likely be 3rd weekend of October so I’ll be hitting up one of you guys to go prior. Should be going off by then with the rest of Louisiana.
TT do exist and now that you’ve seen him you will never not look for them.

Prior experience.
In “theory” the carolina rig allows it to flow in the current giving a natural presentation. Where the dropshot keeps it on the bottom allowing the shrimp/minnow to pop/swim.
I’ll say the standard Lake B/ trestles drop shot will not work. You’ll get bites but no commitment. You could sub out a 2 oz for 1 but when getting to the bottom counts then seconds count.
