Nice! Thanks for posting! I’ll probably be out that way in July. Will be interesting to see if Borgne holds through the summer. Hopefully the Pearl will fall and the lake will get saltier. How’d the water look? Satellite looks like southern portion of Borgne much better than near rigolets.

Way to get it done! Heading down this coming weekend. Thanks for the report.

“Because it’s a long-term game, you’ll want to stay in shape. Run, lift, cold plunge, meditate. Forego fried food and maybe stop drinking.” Insert Rocky-like montage with eye of the tiger playing with Devin running and doing weighted-rod casts lol. Power to you – next level commitment! Only thing I can think to add on the topic in general is that some people put stock in the solunar period. I don’t have enough experience to have a strong opinion one way or the other but have had some success during the minor periods during the winter/spring – whether coincidentally or not, I can’t say. For now, I fish when I can, know the major/minor time on those days, and plan to have a line in the water rather than running spot to spot during them. Water movement, time of day, water temp, etc. by far override the solunar period other times of year.

Thanks for the report. I’ve been wanting to try this. This helps me level my expectations.

I was out there too with similar results. About to type up full report. I do think they are holding in the surf right now for some reason – water clarity not great on the inside?

Great trip! Thanks for the report! Think the tide could have been a factor on the afternoon bite turning on?

Dang man. Tough one. I’m sure you’ll get em next time. At least it sounds like your navigational homework was solid in a newer to you area?

Food for thought: adding some filter capability to the search would be pretty slick – date, area, target species. Search already way better than FB, so I’m appreciative of that.

How was your guess? One aerial shot of the location shows a nice tide line right at the location.

I hadn’t thought about that, but this weekend sure seemed to align with your experience. Great point. Thank you!

Maybe share your email and then delete after I reach out? Cliff and I exchanged numbers – I’ll get yours via email and start a text from there.

Hey Matthew, I do have a VHF. Haven’t tested the range. Could be interesting to try. I wonder how many inshore boats monitor VHF continuously. It’s a very rare bite that I’d call someone in – often seems when someone hops over from 20-30min away, the bite has fizzled by arrival. I’m more thinking we check in once or twice a day with general patterns – birds to the east, trout on the rocks, trout deep, etc.

RyanValentinoMemberJune 2, 2025 at 6:09 pm in reply to: New Reef in Lake Pontchartrain (where is it?)Hey Devin, I received some follow up caveats from the guy who shared this. So we’ll see how they compare when LDWF publishes. Coordinates probably fine on the forum, but suggest they not be included in a newsletter or anything like that.
