Nice trip! I’ll be down that way June 5-9. If you’ll be fishing around that weekend, let’s get in touch and exchange info real time.

    Excellent trip! Congrats!

What range of water depth are y’all looking for the snapper?

Can you tell us more about MRTIS? Were you just using the free trial? Seems like the monthly cost could pay for VHF with AIS pretty quickly, but other functions that make it preferred?

Excellent! I’ve gotten the itch to try for snapper again. This is out of your 19’ sea pro?

It does make me nervous getting offshore in a bay boat, but I’ll watch the weather and give it a try out of Grand Isle in a couple weeks if weather allows.

What type of bait and rig do you use? (Hopefully I’m not asking you to repeat what you’ve already said in a prior post.)

Great trip! I’m sure the exchange with the guide was satisfying lol. Thanks for the report. I’ll be down that way in 2 weeks.

Bummer – I was more hopeful for you than my red trip on Saturday. Maybe another month or so, and weather will be more consistent, rivers down, setting up better sight fishing opportunities.

Thanks for clarifying – I probably added to the confusion in one of my posts.

Depth as in stern to bow dimension if deck mounted. First photo. I’m working with limited real estate. Might check alternate locations

Okay, this is very interesting and extremely helpful. Thank you for the detailed response. The one time I’ve tried in the past, I tried more of a Carolina rig, and pre-rigged a bunch a couple weeks back. I’ll have to add some of these to the stock. Really using 1-3lb weights? Have a preferred bait? Thanks again.

Keep an eye on the satellite imagery – my take is that this area has been water more consistently – something with how the water flows. Definitely worth trying.

Good eye Shooter. It is indeed a medium rod, and I’ve been wanting to move on to medium heavy.

I debate about the mono versus braid. I hate to admit it, but if I can avoid it, I rather not deal with a leader. I also wonder if I’d wind up with more backlashes – one way to find out I suppose.

If I participate in a tournament this summer, I’ll probably size up the rod and move onto braid as you suggest – I had a couple line breaks during a tournament last summer that I don’t want to repeat.

As for the video, just for fun and not trying to be a content creator, but some good ideas for the next one regardless. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t see myself making them regularly – it took a while.

Regarding rather get the shot than catch the fish – I’m not quite there on my fishing journey lol – maybe one day. I did get there with duck hunting and often take out a nice camera for still shots of them coming into a decoy spread rather than a shotgun. The progression of what motivates people in the outdoors is interesting.
