I had an issue with my Minn Kota Terrova, a motor. They replaced it with no questions.

Thanks for the info. My setup is 2 batteries for the trolling motor and electronics and 1 for cranking. When I got back in, I put a meter on the batteries, 2 were just over 12 volts and 1 was at 9 volts. The weaker battery took the charge, but clearly is the drain. I’m currently just keeping the battery switch on “All”, maybe I need to change that. However, I’m probably going to change out that battery. I did purchase a jump starter, the same brand that the police officer had (NOCO, I purchased the GB 70 which is overkill, but wanted the extra umph on the water – $159).

Thanks Devin, I made a last minute call to go and pick up my boat, I keep it in Shell Beach.

We started out the day by hitting the mouth of Bayou Yscloskey and MRGO. We had some really quick bites but didn’t land anything. There was another boat there with 2 older gentlemen in the mouth and another pulled up as we were leaving. We headed to the Violet Locks which were closed but tried there anyway. Nothing. On the way back we tried the rocks along the south side without any luck (except a few hard heads). We pulled into Antonio’s Lagoon and immediately hooked up with a really nice slot red. Several sail cats, 1 gar and a 2 popped lines later we decided to come back in. Or so we thought. As we were getting ready to turn into Campo’s we noticed that the 2 older gentlemen were still in the same spot. Now, it’s over 4 hours later, so we pulled up on the right side by the rocks being very respectful and giving them a ton of room. They were catching white trout after white trout, then we started to land some along with a few croakers, hard heads, and a huge 30lb drum.

Well, I learn something new about fishing, my boat, tackle, etc. every time I go out. Literally about 5 minutes before we were getting ready to head in, the Simrad goes blank and the trolling motor quits. Uh oh….that trolling motor was going pretty hard all day for over 5 hours and drained all 3 of the batteries. The motor didn’t start. We started drifting towards the older men (the wind was a constant 20+ all day and the MRGO had white caps). As we drifted by, we were able to get the trolling motor going. We told the older men that our battery was low and the motor wouldn’t start. We also apologized that we drifted within 10 feet of them. Nothing, crickets….no offer for help, etc. I was pissed! My dad taught me at a young age that you always help people, especially in the water. We stayed late to help a person put their boat on a trailer because he was by himself. I was pissed! So anyway, I didn’t say anything, as we drifted by, just pulled out my paddle and steered the trolling motor. We got to Campo’s and a really nice police officer let us borrow his portable battery jump starter and the SHO started right up. Lesson, I’ll have a battery jump starter before my next trip on the water in addition to testing the batteries (which are 4 years old now).

The wind was 20mph+ all day with white caps in the MRGO. There were no hiding spots today. All fish were caught on Avocado and Clear Matrix Shad on a drop shot, some with dead shrimp. We also caught some white trout on live shrimp. The broken line happened with a croaker.

I have the ARGO app and also use the desktop version to help with GED. It’s about the same as the others and is free.

I keep my boat trailer at LA46 Boat and Storage in Reggio just before the Shell Beach, Delacroix split. They are reasonable, have lighting and cameras. 504-682-2717

Believe me, I’m no expert when it comes to fishing and/or Delacroix. But it’s been my experience that in the dead of summer, it’s kinda tough out there. I’ve had some success on the bayou’s off of Oak River, especially on the points on a moving tide. Going out to American Bay, Snake Island, Oak River Bay, Black Bay, etc and checking out the rigs and different spots was better. Good luck and thanks for posting.

I have the LA 1 card and it’s good. However, after taking Inshore 101, I will not go out again in Delacroix until I learn how to download GED to my Simrad. I’m the poster child for this, I grew up in the Lake P, Lake Catherine, Lake Borgne, etc. area and know this area very well. However, I just recently placed my boat in Delacroix. Although I’ve had many successful and more importantly – fun fishing trips, I realize that I’ve been lucky. I’m learning this new area and it’s been fun. But I’ve been relying on this card. No more! I’m also going to buy Devin’s book and really master this skill.

Summer fishing in the Rigolets/Chrf area is kinda tough when the water gets in the mid to upper 80’s. I’ve had some success in the early hours by the Unknown Pass bridge, L&A Bridge and if you want to make a run in good conditions, Cat Island. Also, I’ve found some reds in the ponds on the Lake B shoreline.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve run both but currently have been running only non-ethanol for the past several tanks. I also use the Yamalube gas treatment and ring free in every tank.
