I did ok in the river right outside the jump. Like you said, water wan’t super and they weren’t jumping in the boat, butt he action was fairly steady for us. We were only out there from about 2:30pm to 4:30pm. I didn’t talk to anyone else but there were a lot of boats out there and I saw people pulling up a lot of fish both in the Jump and in the river

It was about 12-14 feet deep. I would have tried a 2oz but then you get stuck on the bottom every other cats and spend half the time tying up new rigs. The 1oz was probably the right one.
I had typed out this report that night and wondered why I didn’t see any responses, but just realized today that I forgot to hit post

I was at Delacroix today, it was a grind. We kept 3 black drums that were like 20″, one trout, and threw back a couple rats reds and one 27.5″ red. We were on the water for6 hours, no one else was doing any better. I think it’s still too close to the cold snap

Nice report!

I’m going out Saturday in Delacroix looking for diving birds in Lake Robin or 4 Horse

Even better. Thanks!

Thanks, I thought I was crazy. I always hesitate to go up to Lake Lery because if it’s not happening there then it’s a long way back. Did you find them in the southwest corner? It’s usually either there or on those cuts on the south edge

I’m going duck hunting in Buras next weekend and we’ll be done by 9am so I’m going to bring my boat down there to fish afterwards. I’ll probably go out of Venice and keep it simple, do the Jump and the river around Baptiste Collette, and then go into Bayou Baptise Collette for some reds.

I agree, maybe we should have grinded it out more or changed techniques. What was weird though was that the birds were real skittish and moved spots quickly and then finally disappeared. Also, there was only one other boat there, which I found odd because everyone knew they had been killing it there the days before.

Sorry I just saw this. Thanks for all the feedback.
I was throwing a matrix shad rainbow colored under a cork and my buddy was throwing live under a cork. I would have jigged but I only had 1/2 ounce jig heads and the tide was ripping so they would have floated. My cork was sideways.

I’m glad you pretty much confirmed where I as going to go. We hit around the mouth of Robin last weekend and planned on going back.
I’m going to have that drop shot ready too

Thanks!

Thanks for the tip. I’m going to start starting later when the tide is rising so we can get to the falling tide. We did ok today early with the specs, I needed to get back home early today or I would have gone out later.
