I like this trip plan and may do the same thing Saturday. I was going to go down to Port Sulphur again this weekend like last but then I read how Capt. Devin said to quit doing the same thing. I’m like you, I have 90 Yamaha so I can’t really get too far out either. I also may have three in my 18 foot boat Saturday, and that’ll slow us down. You think Franks is the closest you can get? I’ve gone out of the Jean Laffitte public launch before and it’s a fast run down the canal, and there are some huge power line poles that have a lot of grass around them that we caught redfish in. This time of year that grass may provide some shade for them to hide in. FYI, I see you’re using 30lb braided. I’ve been using 20 lb braided forever and I’ve never had a line break and have caught as big reds and black drums as you’ll find out here. You may be overdoing it and it’ll slow your lure down trying to get to the bottom. Just a thought

Great report, and I’m glad you guys had a great day. It’s too hot to be getting skunked.

Great report. What’s interesting is that I fished yesterday on the Westbank, had similar comments about diving birds because there was shrimp everywhere, but all I got was catfish. My water was dirtier I think, maybe that was it. I agree with the plastic. My buddy always wants live but I could leave it. When they’re biting they biting. What color Matrix? I ask because everyone seems to do better with Lemon colored. I catch al my bull reds on lemon -

Me too, I always try the plastic first while my buddy does the live. Some days they kill the plastic better than the live

I’m like you, I’ve tried going to mono twice and always go back to the trusty ole 20 lb braided. Thanks for the report

It was pretty clean. I can’t ever seem to get good images on my computer from Modis. Maybe I have the wrong settings

I agree, there was shrimp everywhere and birds diving all over. Should be rockin’

Thanks, but I think I’ll drive to Port Sulphur and go out that way. It’s a shorter boat ride and gas is a factor. I appreciate the offer
