Thanks for the report. Small trout, not stacked up anywhere seemed to be the theme of the weekend.

I’m sure I saw you at some point in Pass Loutre. You did better than we did, we didn’t catch one redfish all day. I hate fishing on low tides

Awesome, thanks! I was really thinking BC because it’s close and I’ll be getting up at 3am and by 6am I’ll be ready to start throwing. But I found out today that we can’t check into our hotel until 4pm, so what else I got to do but run the river?
I love that plan and think I’ll head down river. I’m like you, thinking that the Jump will start any day now, I just hate to burn daylight there on the way out though. Maybe I’ll hit it on the way back in.
I hope the fog isn’t too bad. I used a mulligan years ago on the river when it was foggy, I’m not counting on another one.
Thanks again, I’ll post a report as always

I had good luck last weekend in the north Pertain Lagoon in the open water trailing birds. Look for birds all around there. FYI, the water can really move through that pinch point on a falling tide, almost too fast.
Don’t waste any daylight, when it turns of, it turns off. Be at the end of that no wake zone waiting for the sun to rise and go as soon as it’s safe. You might have a lot of fog .

Glad to see you’re killing it down there. Thanks for the report, I’m looking to get down there next weekend so I’m listening to what you’re doing and at least have a plan to build on.
Not looking for your spot, but I’m not seeing Octavia, is that a bay or bayou? West Bay or east bay, or off SW Pass. Just a general area, not seeing it on the map

My first fishing trip in Louisiana was in Cocodrie back in 1989. A girl I was dating and her father took me, they had a camp down there. I didn’t fish much until about 10 years ago, but I remember that and him telling me how much marsh they were losing.
I know Delacroix fairly well, so if you ever head up that way, I can help

That was a great day! Thanks for the report.

Dude, you’re just killing down there. You’re making it look easier than it is. Love it!

Thanks again for the tips. The fog changed everything and I think the low tide mark at 9am didn’t help either. Between those two things and the fact that my boat was probably overloaded I couldn’t run around as easily as I would have liked. The best hours of the day were spent trying to just get in a safe place.

I may wait to head down river until Saturday after looking at the weather, The wind is going to be 15 to 20 all day. I might be better off hiding behind some of the tall grass in those bayous in BC

I didn’t do BC Saturday because by the time we came back up we were wiped. Same with the Jump and I didn’t fish it first thing because the fog was so thick and I didn’t want to be a sitting duck out there. The first spillway was further down than I wanted to go with three people in my boat because I didn’t know how much extra gas it would take to get me back. I would have liked to go further down Pass Loutre, but it looked so shallow I didn’t want to get stuck back there and be low on gas.
Three people in an 18 hit boat with a 90 on the back is not optimal for Venice. You have to cover a lot of ground (water) down there and just pulling up is an event, getting the seats reorganized and everything. I liked fishing it by myself, or with my one fishing buddy, he and I have a system.
I did do BC Friday but didn’t do a report because the weather was so bad that the day was just a clusterf. The first three hours of daylight the winds were 15mph and all we could do was try to find somewhere to give us some cover, and only one of those areas was a good trout spot and it didn’t produce. We went to plan redfish by 9am and got rained on all morning, and the tide was so low that the spots I limited out on a couple weeks ago were land now. We did manage to put three keepers in the boat and threw back probably 6 or 7 that were 17 inches, so I was on them. We tried the river in a few places and hit the Jump on the way back in around 2pm but neither was producing.
I’m looking forward to going back with my buddy after Thanksgiving. That was only my second Venice trip and conditions were tough, so I’m not discouraged. Running around watching where some of the guides were going and how other boats were positioning themselves was educational, and reading the guys reports is helping a lot.

If you looked at the weather you’re probably going Saturday.

I saw people fishing that last year when I was duck hunting. I think I’m heading south though

No worries, had a great day, doing the report in a few
