Walter, I’m of the same mindset as you on both Lake P and Venice. It’s been 25 years since I fished Venice and ran aground in several places back then, but that is part of exploring new places. Kind of scary not having been there in so long of time, though. I don’t get to nearly as often as some of the guys on this site and I appreciate the info they share.

Devin, thank you. That does shed some light for me. I need to try this out. BTW, I love LAFB Elite. So much information and help from the members. I wish I had found it sooner.

Geremy, thanks for the response. I thought that’s what it meant but I wanted to make sure. I guess there is no other way to word it, but it just sounded odd when I read it.

Also, after reading Boyce’s post, here are the details. Launching out of Oak Ridge Park (Catfish Lake boat launch). I’m running a Sea Hunt 22 CC with Yam F250. All the usual gear included (tm, power pole, electronics, etc). Will be arriving at the peak of the high tide (0730) to fish the falling tide. Targeting trout, reds, sheepshead, etc. We’re not picky, lol.

The funny thing for me is that I never think about jigging in any other area except Lake P. I know it’s been a thing there for a while. I need to keep that in the memory bank for other locations.

Yea, I hear that and I fully agree. I need to get more practice for sure. Would you say that tactic would work well in other places, too? I haven’t heard of anyone using that technique anywhere else.

I did try jigging just like Chas does but with no strikes. Different colors and styles but that was my first time trying that technique so it was new to me.

I told Robert that was probably a jack that strafed his line. I’ve seen them out there before.

I would like to try Lake Borgne at some point. I’ll get back with everyone if that trip evolves.

    Thanks for the advice.
