In Hopedale I’ve always found reds in narrow cuts where its just wide enough for the boat but 7+ feet deep. My guess is they behave different since there’s no much aquatic grass out there. I prefer fresher areas like Delacroix or Lafitte if I’m targeting reds.

I was out there saturday and hit some diving birds just north of manila that had a few nice trout mixed in with the gafftop. But my starter went out on the boat and had to get seatow to bring me back in.

Hell yeah I want it. I’m planning on going out there sunday if I get my boat squared away tomorrow.

    https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/artificial-reefs

This website has kml files you can download showing the location of all artificial reefs in Louisiana. It will come up as a shaded in area on google earth which I dont believe will translate to your boats gps so you will need to trace the reef with the path tool.

Yeah that’s about your only option this time of year. That being said your plan sounds good to me. You’ll probably be sharing those rocks with some $100,000+ boats and you have the opportunity to show them up lol

Oh nice to hear the Jacks are moving in. Every now and then I like to target them in Lake P.

I just went over inshore fishing 101 and read the part where humminbird uses proprietary software so Im out on that brand now. All my pins and routes are on google earth so I think Ill just go with lowrance.

Now that I have a bigger boat I like to stay out the kayakers and little boats way. I was there before and hated it when I was in a pirouge and had bay boats run up in my spot.

Thank you. If I make it out there tomorrow I’ll scan both spots and report back.

That’s for the replies everyone. I think I’m going with lowrance elite. I’m coming from a hook 7 so it should be familiar. And I’ll just stick with base maps atleast for now. All I really use it for is for navigation and following the route I have planned.
