This is why I gave up my duck lease in Hopedale. Now the bowfishermen will be on the lease blowing the ducks out every night. They should just ban bowfishing at night completely. I dont see how its any different than spotlighting deer.

Man I hit up Lafitte a couple weeks ago (didnt make a report whoops) and had the same story. Diving birds everywhere with small trout and dolphins under them. Ran all the way to grand isle to get away from the dolphins just to find more dolphins than I’ve ever seen in my life. I swear they follow the boats lol. Ended up just finishing the day with a tour of the rich neighborhood in grand isle before heading back.

I’ve actually been thinking about running out there on fridays after work since I get off at noon. Its worth going just to be out there tbh so I’ll be giving it a shot as well.

They say around 2000 dolphins live in barrataria bay alone. No wonder I cant escape them lol

I fish for the sport. Its the friends I bring along that pressure me to keep trout. To be honest, after waking up at 4am and being in the sun all day, I really dont feel like cleaning fish lol

If the weather holds off saturday I’ll probably stop by the airport and give it a shot before heading to watch the boat races.

Yeah quite the journey to get there and find a million oyster boats dirtying up the water. The main reason I went there was due to Pearl River being lower at the time so I figured I would find clean water. But I wont be back even if I somehow knew they wouldnt be working out there because all those oyster beds being disturbed like that constantly really doesnt encourage fish to stick around.

I did and I have a few routes mapped out that I know will safely get me to the gulf. I’m just not sure about hoping around in the marsh because I hear there are lots of old well heads under the surface and that you cant see on GED. I hate asking others for help but maybe I should just do that.

Idk to be honest but I wont be returning. way too many oyster boats out there. I honestly think if be some chance those oyster reefs dont get harvested for one season it would probably be the best fishing you could ever imagine. I mean the ENTIRE marsh north of bayou la loutre is one big oyster reef.

I plan on making trips to Venice to duck hunt next season so I really do need to learn it but the 2 hour drive would be brutal. For that reason we will be camping out there during hunting season. Laffite is only 45 minutes from my house and I have a lot of good redfish spots to hit as a back up or primary target. To be honest once the jacks hit the lake I’ll probably be primarily targeting them.
