Good job! At least someone is catching fish.

More social media BS, I hate social media just because of uninformed comments like these. Everyone needs to conserve not just the guides. I told my wife the other night that the freeze of 89 was the last time I saw anything of this magnitude and the trout rebounded stronger than ever, but with the amount of pressure they have these days this kill is going to have lasting effect for many years to come because you’re still going to have the guys that are going to go and keep whatever they catch and not reseeding the grounds. What a shame.

Ha! The guys you know who are boxing fish are probably a lot more patient than I am. If I don’t see fish on the screen I keep moving and if I do see fish I don’t give them a lot of time if they’re not biting. This is probably a huge fault of mine and why I don’t put more fish in the count.

The BassCat was an awesome boat and very fast, scary fast at times. I’m definitely thinking of biting the bullet and go with dual power poles I don’t think the difference in money is enough to warrant not getting them. Thanks again and hopefully I’ll see you on the water one day!

Great response. I was really leaning towards the bass boat platform just for the points you made but I wanted to hear from someone who has fished both. I had a bass cat fiberglass but it wasn’t exactly all water “friendly” because of the way it sat so low in the rear and there was a lot of water over the back on he deck when the waves kicked up. As far as boats go both platforms are excellent choices. The next thing I’m considering is whether or not to put power poles on the boat? I have one on my CC now but I never use it with spot lock on the TM, so is it worth the additional $3200.00? Do you have power poles on you 178?

Ok, thank you. May be because the water is still cold, idk. Thanks again this helps me decide where and what to fish for Friday.

Sounds like a great day of fishing! Looks like from this report it was all reds. Were any trout being caught that you heard of? I’m curious as to how the weather affected this area vs the shallow marsh areas. Thanks for the report!

Welcome! I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of the courses and forum discussions. I have.

What a shame. We haven’t seen anything yet.

I don’t know if you guys saw this little article I ran across: https://lailluminator.com/briefs/wildlife-officials-warn-freezing-conditions-could-kill-fish-across-louisiana/

Well the worse possible scenario is here, the only places trout survived are in the deeper areas. This is going to take management to get the already decimated population back up again and hopefully we don’t have any more weather that will further destroy the population since we still have February and March to go through. Hopefully LDWF will have the insight to put some restrictions on trout temporarily to help the population rebound. I personally will not be taking any more trout this year in the inside waters, all catch and release. One silver lining, maybe, It doesn’t look like the red fish population was hit as hard but were only seeing trout pictures so far. Now the NO flotilla will be ganged up in droves in the deeper areas LP, ICW, Rigolets areas. They’re going to have to install stop signs and traffic lights with all of the boats that will probably concentrate in smaller areas. lol!

I agree. We’re going to need all the swimming trout we have left if this goes the way it’s looking. This may be the time to catch a couple reds if you want fish to eat and release the rest. This is going to be tough times on the populations.
