This may be a time to rethink the lake: from Gulf Coast Marine forecast for Ponchartrain

    Saturday

Southeast winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 30 knots. Waves 3 to 4 feet. A chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Great report! It’s promising to see the fish migrating further up into the lake.

    Good Job!

Death grip has the 3/4 and 1 OZ lead heads. Bought some a couple of weeks ago just to have in the box on the days the current is ripping and fishing deep.

IMO, I don’t think you’re going to make it in a 2018 Blueway 2400 Pure Bay. Bass boat style and skiffs yes. You may possibly make unknown pass if you don’t have a t-top, not sure about the other bridge. Just an observation by looking at the boat on Google. You can always turnaround if you don’t like it when you get to the bridges.

    Stay Safe

Do you have to carry a MS license and LA license?

We had a thread back awhile showing safe route through Zin Zin Bay but I can’t find it using the search function. Could you post a link to the thread?

    Thanks

Shooter, The live bait rig didn’t come out to where you can see the complete setup. Could you repost it please.

    Thanks

That makes sense. I looked at your profile and assumed you were talking about your boat since I didn’t see a boat mentioned. Boat size obviously makes a difference especially going under these bridges. I have a Ranger aluminum and I make it fine with power poles up.

Exactly, we didn’t fish any docks where there people fishing them. We did pull up to one dock and began fishing and the owner came out and I thought we were about to get run off. Not even he was the nicest guy you would ever want to meet. He was leaving the next morning and told us where to fish on the dock and gave us the live shrimp he had left which was a lot. After about fifteen minutes he came back out and brought us a sausage plate and told us the best times to fish the dock and the lures he liked, he even said here you go and gave us a couple to try. Great guy and beautiful huge dock with green and white lights. This is probably not the norm but it went a long ways with seeing how kind some people are.

  • I’ve been wanting to fish the light sin these areas after reading one of your reports on that very subject. We used to fish the lights around the docks in Venice off of grand pass and around the wagon wheel. We always did well at night. They’ll probably get better when the trout start moving back in a little latter in August. Thanks for the tips!
