Would EBM be good Saturday? I haven’t been fishing in a month or so. Thinking about trying get a one day trip there if so. I was looking at the tide4fising chart and it was saying a bad day tide wise. Because of that, I was thinking of going the next Saturday the 29th. I probably can only do one. Any advice on which one I should choose?

I would love to do this. I’ve been wanting to go to Venice for bass but waiting on that level to get where it supposed to be for that; think 5 feet or below.

I’ve been launching at Bayou Caddy. I like it. Hasn’t been too much traffic the days I’ve gone but I’ve only been a few times.

I didn’t really try any island besides one on the southeast side. Not sure if even had a name. Small one but tried it later in day. I’m probably going again this weekend and might try some different things.

I’d be the last person I’d take any suggestions from with have only fished Delacroix for a few years now but here are some spots I had success at if you happen to want to try. The spot that says reds on bottom, there were oysters shells and such there. We caught plenty of reds there on more than one occasion and in different years just fishing on bottom with dead shrimp on jig head. Haven’t tried it in a few years but maybe still a good spot. The other spot caught some reds on gold spoons and redfish magic. Only fished it once. Shallow ponds all around. And some shallow spots going there so be careful if try. Might be a safer and quicker route but just letting you know some little success I had.

” SITS DOWN AND STARTS EATING A DAMN SANDWICH! “
LOL. I got friends like that too. I got one that every spot we stop at if we are not catching fish after 5 min, he gets his phone out.

I did not get to go to EBM this past weekend. The kids and weather stopped that. I did fish at Grand Bank Reef Friday the 19th. I did not get there until about 9:30. I only was able to fish it about 30 minutes because of having to get to my kids. I cast all around and drifted it a few times. I did not get one bite. I did learn that I can drive out there in somewhat rough water in a 20 foot bay boat from Bay St. Louis. I had to take my time and go about 10 mph but I do feel like I can go out there and to EBM in normal conditions at least. I still had planned on trying again but the waves would not calm down enough to feel comfortable with my kids. So it ended up being a family weekend instead of fishing.

I have been doing the course but it takes time. I plan on driving in a truck and launching at these spots. I also did look at the Denesse area on GED. Maybe not a good idea? My idea for reds is to fish for where there are some grass ponds I guess you say. I use to fish in an area near Houma and my best trips were there. I was fishing in shallow areas with grass every where. I could see the fish tailing and somewhat of site fishing whiteout the tower; standing on my ice chest or just seeing them tail. I loved it and would like to experience something similar. I don’t have to do that. I just saw your video and made it seem similar. I did see what I thought was grass on GED in that spot. I did try to check Navionics(Garmin now I guess), but it did not show the depth there. I’m sure there are many spots that might be similar but just trying to get some ideas/suggestions from people. I just hope to have a great trip experiencing different areas. Having a fishing road trip. I have only been to Venice once and it was a horrible trip. Wind was blowing over 30 the whole time and did not even know where to go. I would like to have a great trip there and can hopefully start adding it into my LA fishing trips throughout the years.

Nice trip. Gold spoon always been my favorite redfish lure. I haven’t been in a while, but I use to go to Houma and fish some nice grassy areas there that are perfect for using gold spoons.

I wanted to go to Venice to catch bass, trout and reds. I want to experience a trip where I can say all I caught a bunch of each; an epic trip. Thanks. I just have to wait on some others for that trip.

Thank you. I made an edit at bottom of post about color that you might’ve missed. Not that you didn’t know that but just letting you know. I also hope to post from another area eventually. Got to do what I can for now. If it wasn’t for joining, I wouldn’t have ever tried EBM. It has helped me get a summer spot. Thank you!

It’s reef out in MS Sound. It’s about 4 or 5 miles off coast of Bay St. Louis area. You can google coordinates and more about it if would like to try. I caught a limit the first time I fished it.

Thank you Devin. I will take my time. I have always fished for redfish in shallow ponds and flats. I have had to push my boat outs of areas before but with age, getting better at being carful. I was usually already doing what you say on some of your videos by slowing down and taking my time, etc. But, I’m going to try to get better at GED and of course, just learn the areas. With that said, I’m going to hold off on this trip for at least a few weeks or maybe even a month or two. Once my kids saw my camping gear, they wanted to go. So I’m bringing them to Buccaneer State Park. I’ll be fishing the Grand Bank Reef and EBM this weekend with weather/wind permitting. With Venice trip, I started watching all the videos online about bass fishing there. I kept hearing or reading that the best time is when the river drops below 5 ft. I might hold off until that time or go, and then go again at that time. I definitely want to start fishing Venice though. I drive to Louisiana about 10 times a year to fish. It’s usually to Hopedale and Delacroix( 4 hour drive), but I want to start adding Venice into my trips. I’m sure I will be ready to ask more questions at that time. Once I know you have read this, I will delete the post until that trip. If you remember this and see that it might be a good time to go bass fishing there; let me know if you don’t mind. Thanks

Yes, I would like to know the other areas as well. I might plan another trip and ask for some of those other areas near by that I should be trying. Thanks
