Rain started at 9:45. I didn’t leave the dock til nearly 10:45. Stopped and got a few minnows at campos. Was overcast all day. I ran straight to the south side of the damn. Fished from the damn all along the banks for several hundred yards. Nothing.

Decided not to go to Athanasio due to the wind blowing 20mph. Instead, I headed up Malo and made my way to eastern shore of Borgne. Fished Sue, padre, shoreline and went all of the way up to grande. I caught 2 trout, one flounder, one rat red, and a big catfish (30”).

Stopped by the fort on way in, but the wind caused me to leave after 4 casts.

Results were not what I had hoped. I passed two other boats in Malo. They both reported dismal results and both had been out earlier than me. I saw no other boats out there whatsoever. The water on the south side of the damn was super clear. The water at the eastern shore was not nearly as bad as I was anticipating. My buddy went out Sunday morning, fished the fort between 7:00-8:00am and caught 5 trout on a sinking twitch bait. He said the wind picked up at 8am and the bite went away.

I agree. There’s been times that I’ve stopped along the way to the damn, and never left inside of that bakers canal.

I just finished planning my day for tomorrow, and it involved starting at the south side of the damn, then Athanasio, then Eloi. Came on here to scope the scene hoping to find a post just like this! I was checking MODIS earlier, and it seems this may be the only area with clean water. Thanks for the post!

I’m going out of Shell Beach mid-morning tomorrow. Given the timing of the tide flip, I saw no reason to go early. Hopefully that doesn’t backfire on me.

I went this morning a. Fished both sides of the dam this morning. A few Monster whites, and several dinks, but I couldn’t get into the specs. Tried a few points in bayou gayago to no avail. Ended in Delacroix and wind was ripping with some muddy water

I struck out today with only 4 keepers in the box, but still had a great day. Fished plastics only, as the bait spots were closed. I am confident if I had live shrimp, I would have caught trout at the dam. They are there.
