Truth be told, I had vaguely remembered reading someone’s comment on Geremy’s post saying don’t be alarmed if they saw a guy in a skiff with a dog and a kid… so I knew when I saw the skiff with a dog and a kid, it was you. I just didn’t remember your name on here so I threw out the “I read about a legendary fishing report yesterday” to break the ice 🤣
No chance would I pull up on an “outsider” saying anything about a fishing report on this forum!!

Perfect timing to post this! I’m going Sunday, and was thinking of fishing the flats… then I just read McLovin’s report. Time to pontificate 🤔

I have mine in a large pelican case along with first aid kit, tools, and some other emergency essentials. I also have an extra hat, extra beanie, and extra pullover on the boat at all times. I’ve loaned my spare pullover to guest anglers more times than I can count due to everyone underestimating the “on the water chill factor”

…. I’ve got some thoughts in back of my mind to stop and try a few of the flats along MRGO on my way out.

Devin – thanks for the replies. Venice isn’t an option, but I know you had to throw it in there :). A friend of mine struck out at bayou bienvenue yesterday, so that’s got me thinking to head this way. It was that or head to the Delacroix side, which I rarely fish. I found the past month to be surprising in that i found fish further on the outside more times than not. Could the trout have not moved in as much as what would be considered typical for this time of year given our exceptionally warm start to Fall?
Anyways, I’m taking your advice, and I added a few points in the mix. I’m still undecided where I will “start” and work my way through, so I’ll number them in sequence later today. Some of these points may be crap depending on how much the wind turns things up. I’m leaning towards going to the south side of the dam instead of Lena / Gayago in event this is a bust. Thought also crossed my mind to head to Treasure Pass just to try before heading to the back of the dam. It’s just not really “on the way”, so I’ll nix that thought from the brain.
This plan has more spots than I’d typically plot, so I’m thinking it’s going to be 15min at each and then bounce to the next. What are your thoughts on if a cluster of points are duds, would you skip several others nearby and head to another section? (i.e. if #1 and #2 were empty, would you even stop at #5 and #6?)

I second trout first, reds as plan B. Run further out for trout and to find moving water earlier in the day – the water temps have remained relatively warm. My .02, though I’m following in effort pick up on lessons learned from others here.

Jason.- same here man. The ride back was pleasant. We drifted Fienne and hit some wind driven banks on the way back to occupy the kids a bit. 4 small reds, and I was back at campo’s for refuel at noon.🤙🏻

Ya got me! I got whipped in EBM last weekend w/ only 3 fish in the box, and wasn’t about to have it happen to me again! Last minute decision last night to go this morning and checked the forum and said “shit on it! I’m headed south”
