For starters, welcome to the forum! You’ll find it’s truly second to none. Lots of great, like minded people.
Very very much appreciate the advice. Thank you!
I had a lot of success in Delacroix about a year or so ago fishing the ledges in Lake John. Ironically I was taking a hard look at the a flat in PaL, but at the outlet of it by the “Devon Energy Facility”. I scrapped it because figured it would be too rough and it supper sketchy. Pictures below. The first image is from 1998 and the other is from 2023. Yeah, I’m not doing that, lol.
I wont lie to you and tell you that I’m not worried about the sand bars and oil field trash, because I’m actually terrified of both! Trust me, I’ll be moving with a purpose, but also with heavy caution.
Anyway, I will definitely be incorporating your advise into my plan. Thank you you again! Looking forward possibly giving you some great advice one day, and who knows maybe even fish together.

YEEESSS!! God I’ve been sitting on ice waiting for yours or anyone else’s report who went. Totally epic man! What a blast! I’m hoping if y’all do a round two and get another invite my work schedule allows me to participate. I get off on the 9th and will be off until the 20th so I’m hoping to make a trip out there whenever the wind starts dying down after the 14th.
That dock shot is money!

Can’t wait to read y’alls epic reports and look at the pictures!! Float like butterflies, but sting like Tomahawk missiles!

Hi Herb! Yessir, can confirm that both the Compressor and Hashtag rigs have been removed. I learned about this during this trip.
Bummer of a trip though man, we’ve all been there. Thank you for the report.

I unfortunately go back on-call for work starting 9/4 through 9/9, which will now be even more painful knowing that ill be working while the Elites will be down in Venice hanging out, smashing limits, and having a blast! Very jealous, and I’m not even a jealous person, lol.
Anyway, I still very much appreciate the invite and I’m more than happy to contribute to the cause! Just let me know.
Side note, I work in the oil field and are pretty familiar with pipelines that run from the platforms to inshore. A few of them meet at some sort of underwater manifold off the coast of Venice. Specific locations, I don’t know. I’ve been told by a retired offshore guide of 33 years that those underwater structures usually act like a reef for red snapper. Of course this is just hear say and can’t confirm how true it is because I’ve never targeted red snapper before but figured I’d at least share the advice he shared with me since you guys are going to be targeting red snapper. I could be legit, maybe.
Man, I hope you guys have a blast. Good Luck!!

It takes me a minute to write my report. Had to take care of a few things first but getting it will be posted sometime today. Thank you.

Apologies, I could have sworn I pressed reply to you when I did reply. If you see this, please see my reply below.
Also, I did go to Venice today (10/28/25) and had an awesome day! Going to post full report tomorrow.
Again, thank you for the advice.

Oh wow, thank you for this!
I have been scouring the Internet for up to date imagery of Venice.
I had a feeling the water in the bay was going to be a train wreck, especially with this cool front moving through over the weekend. As taught though, the fish still have to eat and if needed I can always adjust accordingly.

Thank you very much for the KML file tracks!
I do remember your post about this trip and how it got, I quote “shallow enough to make you chickened out” going the rest of the way through Redfish bay. Totally get it. There has to be a way through it though! I think its closer inland. Unfortunately since I’ll be on a time line I won’t be trying to break that enigma during this trip. I have been taking a look at it though.
Also, I wouldn’t be on this level without this forum and the rest of the Eliters. So huge thanks to you and the rest of the guys on this forum!

He hasn’t confirmed it yet but I believe my normal fishing buddy is going to tag along.
For reaching out I have two cell phones, one ATT&T, the other Verizon, and a Garmin in-reach mini. I do not have a VFH radio but will be looking to purchase one this weekend before heading down there. I also send those pictures I posted to multiple people in my family and let them know my plan as well. My buddy does the same on his side.
“Roseau Canes”
Yeah I’m expecting to catch a few snags here and there, lol. I’m ready for it. I read an old article about how this guide’s customers were losing fish in the stubble because the tackle was too light or they just didn’t know how to handle it. All he did was put heavier pound braid and leader line on, lol.

Man I’m such a chicken when it comes to Thunderstorms lol, but I agree, if its just scattered thunderstorms and I can get out of their way then its not being a deal breaker.
I actually want to do what your doing and stay the night but I have to get back to the kiddos. So I’ll be shot gunning energy drinks before I drive home.
I do however want to extend my invite to you if you would like to tag along. You’re more than welcome to hop in my boat.

Unfortunately those wouldn’t work with what I do. If me and the other guy I work with (it’s just the two of us) wouldn’t have manipulated our work schedule prior to your invite to accommodate some other trips later this year I probably could have worked something out, but since we did it before your invite came out it was too late for me.
