Man that’s awesome!! I agree that the falling tide later in the morning made all the difference. Not sure why, but it just did. Awesome report, glad you found them!

Ahhhhh!!! I feel your pain!! I ran EVERYWHERE August 1st in the Sound and could not catch ONE fish!! I kept saying to myself “This is why I go to Cocodrie!!”, lol. It wasn’t until we pretty much gave up and decided to try the long rocks on our way in when we finally caught fish. The tide was rising all morning at the rigs until ~10 AM, water was okay but better at the rocks. The tide was falling when I made it to the rocks and water clarity was actually a lot better there then out at the rigs. There was a lot of shrimp action in the tide line coming off the rocks whenever we fished it also. Like I said in my report, I just could not believe it. I just think I got lucky and was at the right place at the right time during that time of the day. I mean that with no discredit to the process of elimination or plan. Also, I know it doesn’t matter what color you use while on biting fish but I have just seemed to be having the best luck with Matrix Shad in Magneto.
Anyway, bummer man! At least you had a beautiful ride out there though. I use to love watching the green glow behind my ship while I was in the Navy and also looking at the stars in the middle of the ocean without light pollution. Truly something out of this world.
Thank you for the report!

Thank you!!
– Exactly what you mentioned about Facebook is EXACTLY why I’m trying to get away from it. I find myself doom scrolling and spending WAAAYYY to much time on it. I’d rather my kids see me educate myself with LAFB Elite, reading books, or just gathering knowledge in general instead seeing my face staring at my phone scrolling on Facebook all day. I’m not trying to bash Facebook, it has its purposes, I’m just tired of it. Posting my reports on this forum keeps me from logging onto Facebook and not getting sucked into to the scrolling abyss.
– Yes, I did mean to say Sulphur Mine. Not sure why I keep calling it the Salt Mine haha. Anyway, what you mentioned is exactly what was happening when I would catch a trout. I would get it to the surface and would watch it get smoked by a shark! At one point I tightened up my drag and just horsed them in which is probably the only reason I was able to land 8 in the boat.
– Going back to that chair well was definitely a good move. I didn’t have to deal with sharks as much there as I did the Sulphur Mine, just one Dolphin.
I also love Cocodrie! I know Grand Isle is great and I love it there as well, but there’s just something Cocodrie I love.

Thank you!!!
– It was not hard overcast just partly cloudy. The clouds had cleared when we were fishing the rocks which is why I was so shocked that we got on them during that time of day.
– I had plans to find the Dope Boat but that’s when the wind picked up I didn’t want to risk it because I’ve been reading that not much left is above the water.
– We did not fish under a cork at the rigs.
-I never fish with live shrimp (nothing against it I just enjoy artificial more) but this trip I did buy 50 shrimp because at first I didn’t know the skill level of my buddy I took out with me. I quickly learned that he didn’t need them, lol. We fished the shrimp on a Carolina rig at the rigs as a last resort after trying the drop shot and jig and did not even get a bite! Not even a cat fish, sting ray, or drum. Nothing! I threw the rest of the shrimp over board at the Compressor rig because neither one of us wanted to use them and we, at that point, though we where done for the day.

My apologies for the late response. I’ve been on vacation. The water when I got to the South Break 8/1/24 was actually pretty green, not trout green but doable green. Below is the image of the sound from 7/31/24. The tied was falling really good at the break at the time I got there. I also saw a lot of shrimp action.

It looked like close to that had a water spout over it at one point!
