That’s a good way to test out the new boat and engine.

I’m glad I went yesterday and have access to all these reports to compare my day against. Wish I could have fished longer and covered more water.

One of the most valuable things I’m taking away from this community is knowing that what I did yesterday and my lack of success wasn’t because I was in the wrong area or using the wrong bait but that the fish just weren’t there. I naturally think that if I don’t produce it’s because of my inexperience or lack of knowledge etc. and I assume everyone else killed them because they’re better than me.

This helps to keep things in perspective.

I think I figured it out. It saved as kmz not kml. Let me keep working on it.

Thanks for the awesome information and perspective. I wasn’t that impressed with the water at the rigs when I was there a few weeks ago and I’m sure MRGO on a Saturday will be busy. And it’s really hot. Perhaps I’ll be patient and continue planning and learning.

I wasn’t thinking of using it for safe navigation purposes exclusively.

With our everchanging coastal and inshore structures I would never rely on it to safely guide me. I was thinking more to see, for instance, if I know where a channel is because I’ve done my homework on GED and proper tracking, how deep should it be?? Five feet vs. 20 feet. Is there a hole there to check later in the fall/winter pattern? That would be useful. Also, I got distracted and accidentally ran into this pond (point 7) below. I could learn from GED that it’s a shallow pond, but how shallow? It quickly got to 1.5 feet. I didn’t know if I just got out of the channel or if the whole pond was that shallow and was unsafe to proceed. So I did a 180 and bailed. As an aside, that is the spot we got the “every cast” action about 11:30 once the tide was rolling.

I thought of 2 questions if you’d be kind enough to weigh in on.

1. Being the water at the marina is pretty brackish, do you do a freshwater engine flush when you get off the water? Historically I have when dealing with any salt but I wonder if it’s needed in that water and with improved engine manufacturing.

2. Do you use any of the humminbird lakemaster chips? I have only the base map installed in the helix.

Thanks. It is the best bass boat I’ve ran in and I love it. It has a 250 4 stroke mercury, ultrex with spot lock and hummingbird graphs helix 9 in dash and 7 on bow. No poles.

I noticed it will probably be slack when we start and for that reason wasn’t going to kill myself to get to the launch by 5am. I’m trailering from Prairieville so I’ll go through NOLA and launch at Hopedale Marina unless you have a better suggestion. Besides Campos that’s the only place I know of.

Sorry about the kml’s. Like I said I’m still learning GED but yes the biloxi marsh path was the one I was leaning toward taking and it seems everyone is suggesting that so that’s where I’m going.

I posted something last night as I was having trouble uploading GED file for a post here but I figured it out after I made the post. I tried to delete the post as it didn’t warrant attention but couldn’t so I edited it. I see that it doesn’t make sense but that’s what happened. Since I have you, is it appropriate to upload klm files from GED for discussion here or just a screenshot of the track/placemarks?
