Thanks guys. I’m using 15lb. It cast great, it’s strong and sensitive, my only complaint is when I have a backlash and strip line off it curls up and gets knots when reeling all that slack in.

I’m glad I decided to check the fishing reports this morning. Looks like I will be adding another spot to fish to my game plan for today. Yesterday I put a snapper rod in my truck just in case we had our limits early and conditions allowed.
Congrats guys on an epic day and thanks for the report.

Thanks for the compliments, offering this inshore school, and a platform for us who want to learn and get better catching fish. This was probably my best inshore trip. I used to think going fishing with live bait using a popping cork and a carolina rig was how it was done. Only to come home with just a handful of fish.
The water temps was in the mid 70s and several trout we caught threw up shrimp. I didn’t dissect any fish to see what they were eating but I will next time.
I didn’t fish the weirs or sunken rocks just ran out of time. I was looking to go back this weekend coming and make them part of my game plan. 10 to 15 mph southern winds and predicted 1.5’ to 2’ seas will have me looking elsewhere to fish.

I mainly want to fish Bayou Thomas then go along lake bourne and fish the canals til I get to Martello castle (just see what everyone is talking about). Then go target some redfish. That track by the wall I didn’t do my due diligence.

After last weekend I knew I have only tasted a tiny portion of what Venice has to offer. I watched your video yesterday and that’s all it took to start checking the conditions and coming up with a plan. I picked alot of spots and odds are I want get to all of them. If the winds increase or shift more southernly I feel comfortable heading north to spots. Also figure a couple of us slinging lures we can cover some area fairly quick. Thanks for the help and advice.
