  • Southwest Pass to Joseph Bayou is a route that I have used for years. It gets shallow so I would veer slightly to the right when entering East Bay. Check it out on GED. This route will save you a lot of windshield time.

I have the Bates Salty 150 and the Bates EDC, both are very nice. My favorite reel is a Shimano Tranx 150. The Bates Salty is heavier than the Shimano Tranx but both perform extremely well to my liking.

Thank you guys for tips and suggestions, I will modify and add to my plan. I will be keeping fish for a fish fry later Friday evening. I feel very confident that I will catch, especially after what I did last Friday when I was just goofing off.

They have 2 24′ bay boats and I have my 20′ flat. If the winds stay around 10 or below I can comfortably make it out to the rigs and that is where I plan to go to work. If i’m not able to make it out I will chase redfish and might investigate the deep channels for the croaker migration.

I didn’t have much going on today, so after the rain quit I ran out to Hwy 11 and fished about 3 hours. I only caught 7 fish but they were all tanks (between 18″ and 21″). I got my new PB 22 1/2″ today also. The line broke while trying to net her, thankfully I had the net under her.

Yes sir that is the plan, I will be down with my nephew fishing offshore. I’m not sure how much inshore fishing I will do unless I bring my boat, which I’m tempted to do.

I was waiting to see your report and looks like you did really well which I’m glad to see. Your plan and strategy looks like the one I will use. Thanks
