Venice!Devin the track you sent me was actually similar to the path a friend of mine told me he takes to get to southwest (picture below), so thats good, at least we got a good safe way to south pass. Regarding the trolling motor, i think what i have should handle it (80lb riptide). That being said, safe route and spots are about to be loaded to the gps, gonna get everything ready and hopefully give yall a great report tomorrow. My main area will be the southwest pass. Thank you for your time!

Devin, this reply just put a smile on my face, and one way or other i will figured out what to do tomorrow. Not sure if you have seen my new plan, but after looking at the conditions closely today and talked to a few community members, i scratched my original plan, and gonna leave it in the back burner for a near future trip. So i decided to fish rigolets, Borgne area, if my plan is somehow decent (making a plan is much harder than i imagined lol but i think it will get easier with time).
As far as Venice goes, i would 100% be willing to make a trip there, its also been on my bucket list since i first arrived in Louisiana, however i will be fishing alone tomorrow and i have way too much respect for that river to venture in it by myself. I am a tow boat captain, and i run that way pretty regularly (empire and Baptist collect). Now you got the hamster in my head running 100mph. So let me sit in front of my computer again, look at Venice, and see if i can come up with a plan better than Rigolets/Borgne i just posted. And sorry for being so annoying but aint got much of a choice lol

Honestly barely moving compared to what I’ve seen on rigs before

It was definitely rising and it was about .5 mph. It was hard to tell exactly because wind was blowing the boat a completely different direction than the current but, but I could see the current when I would drop my drop shot

O I see it now, yeah i was looking at that bayou a few days back as a route from hopedale to lake borgne. If trout fishing sucks I’ll definitely head that way and beat them banks. Should be able to find a red or two
-
I can definitely add that to my plan, I’ll have to look on GED where St Malo is it, i don’t know nothing about that area. Just beat up shore lines?

Man the best fishing days i had was off the boat when i used to run to Brownsville. There’s a spot we stop for the night waiting for day light, and when we turn the flood lights on is literally nice trout every cast. I used to catch them from the wheelhouse lol. Corpus is very good too. You even find snook around there.
And i work the dream schedule brother 14/14 -
Brother I’m pretty sure you can get down them on your boat, just gotta be careful in the ship Wakes. Also I’m sure on a south wind that pass gotta be super bad. But later in the year the fish should be going pretty far north in the river so there will be no need to go that far south like I did lol.

Man it was fun. I was tired as hell but now that I let it all sink in, I can’t stop thinking about them dropshot bites lol. Yeah I’m getting a EPIRB and a VHS radio too next time my boat goes to the shop!!

Definitely gonna give it a try!

i really like lake salvador, i used bass fish there a lot before hurricane Ida, but havent been since then. I appreciate the kickback. Im seriusly debating making a run to Venice tomorrow if my plan looks half decent. I never been in that area for fishing, just for work. Its a hell of a drive but seems to be rewarding and the river is below 4ft right so why not !?
