Do you have a trolling motor at all?
You really don’t need to anchor. You probably shouldn’t. I fished the Trestles for years without spot lock. Chas Champagne doesn’t use spot lock, either. If anything, you want to keep moving. The fish are more likely than not gonna be spread out. Using an anchor at the Trestles is like dumping out the contents of a burrito into a hotdog bun.
But if you absolutely just had to anchor at the Trestles you can make a wedge of wood to stick into the crevice above each piling. It was either Kreeger or Vandeborre I learned that from. You can also use a Danforth anchor, just be sure to have a tripping line on it, or modify it like this: https://www.lafishblog.com/pimp-my-anchor/

I will say this: do not go fish that stupid thing. I wouldn’t. Not when the fishing is 10x better in a dozen other places with a fraction of obnoxious boaters.
Yes, I filmed it, but only to add variety to the Dularge/Venice videos I have coming down the pipe. If I just wanted to catch fish I would go to Venice, Delacroix or Dularge, perhaps Lafitte (but I think you already went there).

That’s not the only flat you can fish in the area. But if you learn how that flat was made, you will be able to find them and fish the others, too.
I also have a video fishing that flat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oyoMssO4II

I’ll check that out, I may need some new ones soon! Thank you!

I’d go tomorrow if it weren’t for the wind! Will def go later when it turns out of the east and calms a little.

“This was an enjoyable trip: quick, easy, close to home – and I ended up with 8 nice keepers among 14 speckled trout”
It’s so hard to beat that. No trailering, no crappy launch, no walking through a muddy parking lot, no putting up with room-temp IQ people at the launch lol! Just sounds like a relaxing and fun fishing trip.
“so I persisted until a small white trout solved the mystery for me and I moved on.”
Ah yes, the ol’ 10″ white trout simulating a school of speckled trout. lol
Geoghegan Canal might turn on after this front.
Great report, thanks for posting!

f&%k that party!! Go to Venice! Attend artificial human constructs on some other day the river isn’t below 5ft!! The party is in the river!!!

I said “go to Dularge”! lol

Likewise. I’m def going. Plan is to catch a limit first thing at The Jump or BC then haul to Head of Passes to try that then Joseph Bayou to learn that more, then maybe South Pass for redfish. I’d like to fish Southwest Pass, but I have no idea how it’s gonna play with that NE wind.
I’ll be at Cypress Cove for before sunrise.

I wonder if the trout really ever left the river. I heard Ryan Lambert say that they just got outside of the river when she came up to 6ft, then got back in when she went down.
Well, it looks like the river may do that again. We shall see. Either way, I am going tomorrow. It’s gonna be cold, so I am dressing warm and making sure my spare clothes are good to go.

I’m gonna go. Gonna do tackle and load up those waypoints right now. It’s gonna be cold. I’ll report back tomorrow and, of course, want to hear feedback from any other members.
Thanks, Oliver.

I may. Right now I’m just trying to figure out somewhere new to go to film for YT.
