Yeah, phones are fking stoopid. Apps are easy for companies to make as welll as add paid features to them and they are more marketable because everyone is pretty much required to have on. That’s why there are so many apps for things, not because apps and phones are so great.
Pro Tip: your life will become astronomically easier if you use a desktop computer for everything then keep a phone what it was intended for: texting and calling and, every now and then, on the go data needs.
I could not imagine making one of my YouTube videos on a phone. I’d rather shoot myself.

i’m stuck in traffic on the way home, here’s what else I learned:
trout are in the river bigger than shit, they are pale, they’ve been there a minute
pac man the rocks starting at 1st spillway
then run south and do the same at the wing dams on the west side
1/4 and 3/8 jig ultraviolet and chartreuse did good
caught a limit of reds mixed in
if you catch rat reds you are close to slot reds and specks
bayoius at 1st spillway were a dud
some trout in baptiste collette but mostly throwbacks
some reds and sheeps at rocks of south pass
afternoon bite at jump is a no go
sea swell outside of southwest pass is too much
sgallow rocks in 5ft of water at SW pass gave up a 22” trout, probably more there
if i had to fish tomorrow i’d hit the jump then go down grand, cross zin zin then pac man the river starting at 1st spillway

Caught a limit in The Jump for 0755
about to punch down the river
scattered fog, water temp 54, wind flat calm
will post a full report when I get home

“He actually hooked one on his own (fish was suicidal lol ). I had to reel it in. Dude is a beast with a push button. He is too small for any real pole.”
That’s pretty good at two. Just roll with that, the “real” fishing rod will come soon enough. Keep up the good work.

That’s awesome. Just fantastic. I started taking my kids out there at about that age. They’re happy just to be there, they don’t have to be masters at casting or anything like that. I think getting in the “wild” and interacting with wildlife (even if it’s just a trout or whatever) is great for them.
Excellent report, thank you for posting it!

Yeah, the fish definitely have one foot in winter and the other in fall. The coming cold front will form them up.
I don’t recall, do you keep your boat in a slip?
13 keepers is great. Consider I caught ZERO. lol ha ha ha ha
Great report, thanks for posting!

Tell your buddy to suck it up and GO TOMORROW lol
Tomorrow is going to be about perfect, I’m not sure about Sunday. It could be good. After that, the river is coming up, do not delay a minute after that.
I just got home, I’m racking out. Talk some sense into your buddy.

not bad at all, it lifts quick

Man, well I’d say Dularge is a shoe in given the report I posted today. It was a lot of fun.
I did get a second hand report about ten days ago that they were catching in The Jump and the water was garbage. I’ve been watching the Belle Chasse FNU meter like a hawk, as well as daily sat imagery and the river just hasn’t cleaned up like what she was before. I will know for certain tomorrow.
The boat’s fuel tank is topped off and I am ready to fish from Bay Denesse to Baptiste Collette to YCB to 1st Spillway to South Pass. It’s gonna be that kind of day. I’ll give a report when I get back tomorrow, just understand it will be a long day so don’t be surprised if I post it late in the evening.

I want you to crush them so let me give you more details lo
I caught the majority of my trout on a 4 Horseman with 3ft of 20lb FC leader with a 1/16th oz Deathgrip jighead and a chartreuse sparkle beetle at the end. I did catch a few on the Mirrodine, but it was practically a comedy routine watching them pick the cork over the Mirrodine.
I went to that point “Flat 1” right away and that’s where I got on them. But I did fish a lot of the southern shoreline at “Rocks” and pretty much caught them along the way, and other boats must have as well because they were spread out along it. I was about 100-200 yards off the shoreline in 4-5ft of water. Stay in 4-5ft of water.
I also recommend using a drift sock to drift. You may not need one since the wind will be so low on Wednesday, so check your GPS to ensure you are drifting ~0.5mph. Anything over 1mph is too fast. Yes, it makes a difference. If you don’t have a drift sock then Gus can make one for you with a trip line at Gus’ Tackle in Slidell. He is open tomorrow.
Drift and pop that cork.
Ensure you are there popping a cork for the butt crack of dawn. Take advantage of that early light, they bite best then.
What makes Decade unique is that it’s a lot like Salvador and how Pontchartrain used to be: tons of shells on the bottom. But I found the most texturous, shell-laden bottom to be at “Flat 1”. You want to be about 100 yards away from the shore.
Also, people get close to each other in Decade. The Greater NOLA area is like a bunch of prudes who cannot stand the sight of a naked man, whereas Dularge is like a bunch of sailors packed nekkid into an open shower room. People drift close to each other and say hi in Dularge. They even run their boats past each other, cook boudin and blare music and it’s normal. It’s like visiting another country. Maybe bring your passport.

Delacroix is way more hazardous with fog. Look at Dularge on a map. You launch into a canal and go straight for three miles. That’s it. It is the easiest navigation you will ever do and it is wide, plenty of room for boat traffic. You cannot possibly screw it up. Just follow all the Cajuns. They will lead you to the promised land.
