Great report! Wish your daughter wanted to fish, but you know how kids are. lol

How do the rainbows taste? How are their fillets?

It’s cloudy outside, not sure you’re gonna get a good image. GGTK on this one. If you see dead fish, I sure would appreciate some video. Thank you.

If you do go north of St. Malo, there’s an old weir at 29° 54.747’N 89° 33.265’W you will want to avoid. It’s underwater these days but you can see it on GED imagery from 2014.

“In general I’d like to get a grasp on what pattern I should be considering when planning my trip on GED….but I’m unsure if I should expect the water to be low enough to experience success this way.”

Well, do what I said in that course and 101: look at the predicted conditions. What’s the wind going to do? From what direction will it blow and how hard? How will that affect water levels and the predicted tide?

“My boat is a 12×48 flat boat with a 20hp outboard and I can go about 20 mph”

That’s plenty. What else about your boat? How much fuel? Trolling motor? What kind? Drift sock? Cajun anchor?

I like your idea of where you want to go, but going into the marsh north of St. Malo is probably an unnecessarily long run. The marsh along the Spoil Canal right across from Hopedale Marina is a great place to start. Did you see the recent report someone posted saying someone else caught a bunch of fish back there? That’s a clue.

“I also have no electronics so I typically check depth the old fashioned way.”

Don’t need ’em. Completely unnecessary if you’re just getting started. You’ll do fine without sonar.

After that, where are you getting your forecast from? Because what I’m seeing for Shell Beach Windfinder is way different from what you’re reporting. See attached.

Given that forecast, you’re probably gonna have low water, maybe even “normal” water levels. That will depend on how the wind plays out.

After that, it’s warm and it’s gonna be warm. I’d still fish deep holes but look for fish to get out onto flats, ponds, rocks, etc.

Honestly, if I were you, I’d consider going to the south side of the Rock Dam and fishing different spots along the way.

Enjoy it. Take it in and add it to your tacklebox of knowledge.

I’m not dogmatic when it comes to absorbing knowledge, I like to keep an open mind. With that said, I’ve read a lot of fishing books and, to be blunt, many of them are incomplete and surface-level. But Buck Perry’s works are profound. That he was able to travel the nation and put fish in the boat further stakes his claim toward legitimacy.

Many, and I mean most, inshore anglers simply fish one area they are comfortable with then take to social media and profess their expertise. But if they really knew what they were doing, they’d be able to replicate their success across basins and have years worth of fishing reports and pictures to back it up. Rarely do they.

    Buck Perry is an OG.

Do you want these videos to blow up?

Do you want the youtube videos to drive traffic to the blog or drive revenue?”

So more people know the LAFB brand and eventually join LAFB Elite. I understand it’s niche. If I really wanted to make viral content I’d make content that appeals to a general audience.

It just is what it is, I’m not looking to be a YouTuber or spend day in and day out on their hamster wheel. I’m going to stick with the formula that’s been working: make something so good it cannot be ignored. If algo content feeds pick up a video, great. If not, then the proof is still there: I can catch ’em without someone doing it for me.

“Putting Marsh Man Masson in the Dirt”

Like, dress up as ISIS and just find him on the water? lmao You know, I’ve never spotted him on the water. Not once. You think that woulda happened by now, but nope!

“Dead Shrimp Guides – Biggest Losers on Planet Earth”

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

“Chas Champagne: Why Does No One Ever Fish Hwy 11 Bridge?”

    LMAO

“THE END OF SPORTSMANS PARADISE: Facebook Fisherman & The Armada”

That’s actually a pretty good one. All these tech edges are adding up to pressure the fish and that should be addressed.

“I Hate CCA And So Should You”

OMG the amount of sh*t that would stir lololol

All those titles are golden. LOL

“Also, yes had Windfinder set to the wrong location.”

Yeah, that’s what I figured. Very important to clear the air on that. lol

Okay, so it sounds to me like you have everything you need to go forth and kick ass. I think that fishing the ponds and interconnecting bayous off the Spoil Canal could be good. Don’t get wrapped around the axle about water clarity. It is what it is.

Or make a route to the south side of the Rock Dam and pick a bunch of places to fish along the way. When I fish redfish I would recommend Gulp under a cork. In fact, a cork will be your friend for trout and reds in the shallower stuff. When fishing deeper use an HDS rig. It’s really just gonna be that simple.

Yeah, I’d lean towards the bass boat. They’re way more comfortable to ride in as well.
