46 Degrees at the Rigolets right now. I wonder how much more, if any, it’ll go down. It’s definitely sketchy.

@Daniel_Gig the time frame boat shops give is definitely aggravating so I feel your pain. I’ve had my boat sit at the shop for a month before they even looked at it. I quit taking them there for that reason, but I know one day there will be something I just don’t know how to do so I’ll have to bring it back. I’ve been told that they have such a back log of boats and take forever because there isn’t a boat shop on every corner like there is an auto shop, so they get stacked up more with work and fall behind much quicker. It makes sense, but its still annoying though. Hopefully they get you back in action soon.

“Also makes untangling two or more rods a lot easier. This is key when taking people fishing.”

My goodness I never thought of this. Untangling line when my coangler casts over me is my biggest trigger on the water. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for your report! This weather makes everything so much more challenging. I’ve been wanting to get out there and try the areas you fished in this report so I appreciate you reporting back. That area behind the apartments you fished is called Lakeshore Estates. Some people call them the Lakeshore canals. Great winter spot so you were in the right place.

Lol, the “let nature take its course” would be an amazing default decision, but as well all know, we can’t have anything cool that is built by nature without someone going to F with it.

Another pass/cut that has built a lot of land to the west of the river is West Bay Cut. If you scroll through recent GED images it’s pretty amazing what it’s done.

I’m a big proponent on letting the river do what the river is supposed to do. Let it build land and habitat. I understand the need for levees and generally agree with them as far as protecting people’s property and such, however the repercussions they have caused do suck. I wish whenever they dredge areas, they would use the dredge material for something useful, rather than just pumping all the spoil up on the bank. They could take that spoil and build more land somewhere else, thus creating actual habitat. That might make too much sense for our decision makers though.

One guy who is really invested in this type of stuff is Chris Macaluso. I love when he gets rolling talking about the River and what it can do to benefit our fishery. He’s like a walking encyclopedia.
