Also, when is the last time you were able to consistently catch Trout around Manilla Village this time of year?
I can remember last year around this time, if you weren’t running to Grand Isle, you weren’t catching Jack.

WBJ. When I grow up, I want to be able to fish as often as you. When I get superpowers, I want to be able to catch trout like you.

You’ve been wearing em out on the double rigs. Why catch one when you can catch 2?

Epic day. WOW!
We found the trout were mostly holding in the same depth at Breton and Gosier the day before you went. That pattern is holding strong across the board out there.
Awesome topwater bite. That’s my one regret of my trip: not throwing topwater.

I saw pictures of some rods he made that look like cane poles. Man I wish I would’ve gotten that. Maybe for the next one. But how sick would it be to pull up and start smoking trout on a jig with a rod that looks like a cane pole?

I’m gonna check that out. Thanks.

I’ve thought about doing that too as a little side hobby. Where do you get your materials from?

Pretty impressive what all he can make. It’s nice to have that in your back pocket if you need something specific.

Speaking of reels, yes a custom would be awesome. But who makes the 50 size reels?
-
Ahhh yes, the St Croix Avid X— another tremendous rod that has been discontinued in the best length. I’ve searched EBay long and hard for one of those and have never been able to find one pop up.

It was $280. Certainly not cheap, but hopefully is well worth the investment.

“Because people are retarded and no matter how much content I make proving otherwise they’ll stay inside their perceived comfort zone and continue to goose egg. “iTs An iNsuRanCe pOliCy” or whatever makes them feel better. Or maybe just listen to the guy who does this for a living and watch his hours-long unedited videos catching them without live shrimp, and maybe take time to notice that what he’s doing to that end is throwing a cork or dropping an HDS over the side of the boat to catch these fish. There’s no mystical “wOrKinG tEh LuRe”, just finding biting fish in the first place. Not hard. But boy, do people love to make it hard. Maybe just go bowling or try finger painting.”
Ok, I LOL’d at this. When you put it this way, yeah I can’t disagree with anything you said. “People are retarded”— look no further than my FIL watching Trout getting destroyed on jigging soft plastic and he kept picking up that shrimp and making empty casts.
It’s all about finding fish. That is it.
