Man, we could’ve sunk the boat with catfish at the wing dams in SW Pass too. I’m glad you found the redfish stacked up at the second spillway. We fished the inside only and only caught one.
The Jump should be full of Trout soon!

We likely saw each other at the first spillway. Were you fishing the inside with a T top?
If you saw a Pro Line struggling to keep still outside the weir, that was me!

You had a nice day out there. I’m with you: bring on the cold fronts.

I think your plan could work, but I do agree with some of the stuff Devin said.
Redfish have been tough for a minute down here. I have been targeting them more often recently due to the time of year, my small boat limiting me getting outside for trout, and the wind/weather has kept me inside. Over the last 6-8 months, I’ve targeted Redfish in the Rigolets Area, Shell Beach, Delacroix, Myrtle Grove, and Port Sulphur. It has been tough in all of those areas.
Like you, I don’t really LOVE fishing with a cork, but in all honesty, that is what I have had the most success with when fishing for redfish lately. And by “success” I mean the cork caught all the redfish, save for a handful. I prefer to throw something weedless like a Texas Rigged craw, or throw something more fun like a crank bait or anything that requires more skill, and I just haven’t been able to catch them on any of that.
I would start with the cork and put a gulp or dead shrimp under there, catch a few keepers, then switch it up once you have found them.
Also, in Delacroix I have always had more success fishing for redfish closer to the Mississippi River.
I would consider checking out some areas off Oak River. I attached a screenshot of an area around there I have had success in.
Grassy ponds are your best friend when looking for redfish in Delacroix. I would hop on google earth and mark as many grassy ponds I can find in the area I’m fishing and hit them all up. Those will have the best chances of clean water.

Man it was crazy at that thing. You see any trout down there when you dove down?
-
That close. Truly insane. We started off throwing an HDS looking for trout!
-
Yes, i assume that was you? You caught all the Trout in the Jump and that’s why we didn’t find any?
-
Damn bro. Till February? I get it, if it’s worth it then it’s worth it.
If you get a chance to sneak away for a Venice trip, I think we can find a way to make that happen
-
Felipe, that hammer trout is worth 50 trout IMO. What a catch bro. You the man!

I am not sure what happened with the SD. It worked on my unit when I got home so who knows. Yeah, I went back to the same spot in the jump as last year and just turned around after graphing it. Didn’t wanna waste time and I was antsy. The Ranger shall return soon!

Hahaha thank you man. You were locked in reading the report better than our boat was locked in literally anywhere in Venice.

That will probably be a good time do go. I’m pretty sure we are supposed to get a cold front by then.
