The good: special Red Snapper limit of 5 for the Memorial Weekend. https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/news/ldwf-secretary-bosworth-increases-red-snapper-bag-limit-to-five-fish-for-memorial-day-weekend
The bad: too much wind to get out there, unless you have an offshore fishing machine.
I’ve been hoping to get out to Grand Isle for a little while now also, but the wind has certainly kept me away for now in my 21ft bay boat (for Snapper on the rigs that is). I’d love to check out the Grand Isle 9 artificial reef, but I’ll just have to buy my time for now until the wind comes down.

This is great intel here! Thanks for posting up. Actually, seeing your report pop up in my email led me to finally pull the trigger and sign up for the membership. I was also out fishing Wednesday, and then again on Friday, and it was the first time I finally put all the free content offered here to use and it worked! We focused more on the points out of Hammock Bayou (good moving water there), which offered some shelter from the wind on Wednesday, but certainly no protection on Friday with the southernly winds. Specs, reds, and flounder there on Wed and reds and flounder on Friday. I’m thinking the specs didn’t care for the rough, warmer water on Friday. I was fishing 1/4 and 3/8 oz jigs with sparkle beetles. The wife caught the flounder on a popping cork with shrimp, along with a bunch of good-sized croakers that she loves. Although, the bottom presentation was the ticket for pulling the reds and specs out of the slight 2-3ft drop-off we found there. We fan casted around until we zeroed in on where they were holding.
I’m actually out in the Bay quite a bit and I certainly plan on trying to learn the area better, especially around Shark Island and Weeks Bay to stay out of all that wind. I’ll certainly post up what I find.

Thanks for the intel. I definitely need to plan a trip back that way. I’ve been a few times before, but like you mentioned it was busy. I am getting lots of reports of limits under birds in Weeks Bay though. We tried Sunday, but the birds had all sat down by the time I was able to get there.

Absolutely agree! I’ll definitely be getting started on all the modules very soon. We were just ecstatic to finally see something working out there. It was certainly reassuring. I was at a loss until now, and I can truly say the little bit I’ve read through so far has already made a big difference. Thanks for putting all of this together!

Definitely agree. Not much about our area out there. I had almost given up and if not for LAFB, I would still be stuck. It has absolutely changed my perspective. We haven’t quite figured it all out just yet, but hopefully we’ll keep getting better.
