1/8 and 1/4 on the rocks. When deeper, not throwing to the rocks, went to a drop shot w a 1oz weight.

I believe the only spots I did this were the hole at the end of the short rocks and the cut.

Hey sorry to be vague on that. We caught 3 keeper fish on the matrix shad tight line and many of the smalls. One of us was on the artificial and one on shrimp most of the day so I’d say 60% live bait and 40% plastic tight line or under a cork.

I’ve been trying to use the 1/8oz head as recommended but still getting used to not being able to tell where I am with it sometimes.

    Congrats Shooter

Great experience and fish. What a blessing. Also a well written description of your journey. Do it again.

    Hey Drillnfill,

Thanks for the tip on the I Pilot App. – DONE

Devin, thanks for the advice. I may be trying those spots out of Shell beach Wednesday. I’ll report back. I am not into trailing. I have my boat in a slip at Shell Beach and keep it simple. Thanks All.

Thanks for the report. I’ve been thinking about fishing the rocks lately. After this next cold front I’ll be giving it a try with the mirro-luers.

Thanks for the advice Devin. I have a buddy who goes back into that stumpy area on high water at idle and does well. We’ll see, I’m not a risk taker. As for Venice, I used to fish in the river down there some when I was young and invincible in my 14 ft flat boat with a 25 HP motor. Now I’m much older and have a boat in a slip at Shell beach. So no trailering and no boat launch circus. Very easy and I’m still catching a few fish. If I’m fishing Venice, and it’s not often enough, I’m someone’s guest. You are right there is nothing like it.

    Thanks again.

Very nice! Changed our plan and went to Lake Borgne. As you can see from my report maybe not a good idea for catching keepers. Looking forward to next time.

    Hey cmbox04,

I am planning a similar trip and that route tomorrow. I may push into Lake Coquille if Robin is quiet. Maybe see you out there. I will be in a 20 FT Sea Fox/150 Yamaha. It should be a great day. I have never taken that route so input from the knowledgeable appreciated.

    Thank you
