As a kayak angler, I feel every bit of your frustration when it comes to dealing with the wind. I can pretty much count on a bird’s nest happening on those windy days, so I plan to have a couple pre-spooled reels ready to go in my crate. If my leader breaks and I don’t feel like tying a new one on the water, a good alternative is using a small swivel and tying leader onto that.

Specifically the IMX pro 6’8” ML fast casting rod for weightless flukes or light weight jigging. That’s the rod I’m looking at. But opened up the discussion for the overall brand

Just bought a copy, looking forward to the read. I get the feeling I will be further disappointed in how we’ve managed our fishery over the years

On my last trip I started out with single inline hooks and was missing every blowup. And there were a lot. I counted at least 9 or 10. So I switched to trebles and it seemed to help significantly. Caught 2 fish on just as many hits. I know this is a small sample size, and other variables to consider. But I’ll take your advice and try those hooks. Thanks for the info!

I read your report, that’s crazy man! I wonder why it was off Saturday. The bite had turned off pretty quick on Friday after the sun came out and the wind picked up, which was around 12pm.

I’ve ventured 10 miles from the launch on a few occasions for the sake of exploring. I think I know where you’re talking about, will be willing to give it a try next time I’m out there! Appreciate the tip
