I’ll be fishing out of my kayak in that area as well same time on Saturday, launching off duvic pump rd. I’ll be in a grey hobie outback. Give a shoutout!

I fish Venice from my kayak and have caught limits of trout and redfish out of Yellow Cotton Bay and the wagon wheel area this time of the year last year. Combat launching off Tidewater Rd or even the old Duvic’s pump would be good kayak launch areas. I plan to go again soon.

Haha that’s epic. Saw a sea turtle, too. Beautiful spot for sure

I’ve ventured 10 miles from the launch on a few occasions for the sake of exploring. I think I know where you’re talking about, will be willing to give it a try next time I’m out there! Appreciate the tip

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely give it a watch. Catching some nice trout in Hopedale this weekend, I’ll post a report in the coming days. Appreciate the help

Yes I saw you as you were heading out. Glad you had a good day and caught some fish! We can team up next time and get on em!

Yes the wind pretty much dictates my planning. I use windfinder. It is usually close to what I expect when I check the night before. And I’ll always check the morning of my trip, as conditions can change.

Thanks man! Something about fishing the coast down here hits different! (moved down from Arkansas last fall where I was previously used to fishing for smallmouth bass on a fly rod) To answer your questions-
“Why were you in deeper water for redfish? Why not get shallow?”
My thought process was that since the water felt like bathwater temp they may have stacked up in deeper areas. I should have worked the grass more, just didn’t see much going on across the banks.
“Forgive my ignorance, but is it not feasible to drag the kayak to the other side of the island and launch there? Or is it easier to use the marina and paddle around?”
I chose to launch at the marina for two reasons: I simply am not familiar with public beach access in Grand Isle. The state park website says it opens at 7am and I wanted to be on the water earlier than that. Second, I was planning to fish the marsh for redfish north of the marina after targeting trout in the Gulf, so launching at the marina was a convenient middle ground.
Appreciate the feedback. Have learned a lot from your videos

Thanks again for the guidance,
I paddled down the pass without too much trouble and had some success by the beaches and between the rocks this evening. (12-14” specks). Planning to try belle pass tomorrow.
