Yep. I had the same experience. It was surely a tough day out there. Did you fish the rodeo? If so how did the other people do?

Okay, I’m not strictly focused on site fishing. You suggest the same places for regular fishing for redfish as well?

I did not get any pictures. I will know for next time to start taking pictures so I can learn more for next time. I see what you mean by treating that grass as the shoreline, but in the pond I was in the grass never ended. The whole pond had it spread across the bottom. When we got into the pond I saw hundreds of baitfish along with some big mullet, but no redfish. Now I am in the process of getting my trolling motor fixed. Don’t know exactly what is wrong with it, but it died unexpectedly without ever slowing down. I checked with a multimeter and it isn’t getting power. I am going to do i deeper dive to see if I can diagnose and fix it myself. I think this summer I will start trying to launch at different areas such as Hopedale or Shell Beach and start trying to learn those areas. My family has had a camp on Lake Catherine since Katrina but I have always struggled fishing out of there in the summers.

That podcast is so informative and entertaining. Their last episode with Chris Macaluso was awesome.

Appreciate your response. I was figuring that with the size of my boat and the experience I have out on the water, I would rather stay closer in and focus on plan redfish. I have never fished those ponds that I marked off of the ICW, and was wondering if you have any experience with those certain ponds or others in the area. I was either considering those ponds or also some ponds in the Bay Jaune area, or even the ponds on the north side of the Rigolets Pass. I just have never been into that marsh and want to dial in what ponds to fish since there are so many. Also, what other factors besides clean water and bait fish should I be looking for to see if the ponds are even worth it to fish? Thank you!

Great lol. I did not know that. I will most definitely be launching from Island Marina then. I want to avoid all that traffic if possible. Good luck on your trip!
