I was thinking about heading that way on Saturday as well. I have never fished that area. Is there a map of the reefs in that area? The wind will definitely be tough but worth a shot early in the morning. Also when drifting these areas, what do you like to throw with these strong winds?

Great report. From what I have heard, it seems like Delacroix is starting to shape back up this July. I went out 2 weeks ago and found nothing but dirty water everywhere. Good luck at Black Bay tomorrow.

So I am creating this pretty late before the trip tomorrow. I used the Bayou Gentilly route from the student KML file. All of the other routes I made were made using the historical time slider pre-Katrina. I just looked for some shallow shorelines around the area that should have some moving water. If you see any problem with these routes, let me know. Thank you.

My younger brother is moving into his college dorm tomorrow and I was just told that my truck would be needed to bring some stuff up there. I will try and make it out before if time permits.

Huge thank you to everyone who jumped in to help with the intel! And thank you Devin for going out of your way and reaching out to the “Jack Master of Lake Pontchartrain.” A family matter has came up for Saturday, so my fishing time is now up in the air. If I can make it out I might be limited to just fishing the Lacombe area with some poppers and big swim baits. I will also bring a cast net to try and get some live mullet. If I do manage to get on the water tomorrow, I’ll definitely post a report using everyone’s advice. If not tomorrow, I’ll be taking this info and putting it to work another time before the fall patterns are here.

Appreciate it. I will make a report when I go out.

Appreciate it. I’ll have to go pick me up some poppers from Marsh and Bayou.

Thank you for reaching out to whoever it is. I’ve seen a bunch of post from Ty Hibbs and that is what is making me want to go.

Thank you Cliff. I was wondering if you remember me from Northlake a few years back?

Thank you for the feedback. I do have a question to add. If I were to take my boat out there which does not have side scan, how do you suggest fishing it? I only have down scan and sonar.

Thanks Devin. Appreciate the feedback. Even though this day was tough I’m hoping it will pay off this fall. I’m definitely going to keep building out my tracks here.
I do have have 2 questions for you though:
- Dirty Water: I found a lot of dirty water all the way from Lake Batola all the way down to Pointe Fienne, and even back up to Lery and Grand Lake. On days when the main bays and lakes are blown out and dirty like that, what is the move in Delacroix? Should I have been looking deep inside the smaller marsh ponds, for the fish?
- The Summer: Since we are in the heat of summer, does my idea of heading further east toward Lake John and Four Horse Lake (Cuatro Caballo) make sense for finding cleaner water and finding those numbers of redfish you mentioned? Or should I be looking even further south toward the edge of Black Bay?

Thank you Boyce. I came across your podcast last month and have already watched all the episodes. Which areas on my routes would you say “people are scared to run” just so I know to be more careful next time.

Thank you for the information Rob.

On the water now. I fished a lot of those spots with no luck. Water was super dirty. On the way to lake Lery based on the report from yesterday. Good thing is that I am getting all the safe routes down with no trouble.

I agree with all of this. I’ll be launching out of Delacroix tomorrow. Is sweet water marina the place I want to launch? Is it even worth trying for trout out there or just plan redfish. Never been out there and I’d assume it isn’t salty enough for the specs in the summer but I could be mistaken. I’m actually on my way to my camp right now and I’ll be sending a planning post in this thread once I get time to get on my computer. I appreciate it.
