    Lots of good options out there as listed already.

    If you’re like me (sight fishing first, trout second), and the primary function of your unit will be GPS, I would lean simrad. I’ve had the NSS9 for about 5 years now and love it. Has the 2 front facing ports for chips if you’re going flush mount. I also like having both touch and knob/key controls. The standard mapping chip is a worthy investment, IMO. You can certainly bypass having to buy it by using GED and doing your homework, but that imagery on the boat, at the resolution it provides is nice to have.

    From speaking with spotted bass/striper guides here, they have told me that the sonar/sidescan features on simrad are not as sensitive as Hummingbird or Lawrence. Maybe someone else can weigh in on that, as I am definitely not a source of intel when it comes to that aspect of these machines.
