I would take a look at the west / south side of Lake Borgne. Water was trout green out there yesterday. I did very well there yesterday, will be posting report soon.

I know quite a few charter captains and I try to never bring up where they have been fishing. I really don’t even worry about what they are doing or where they are going. Not saying they never give intel but a lot of times it is very hard to go catch someone else’s fish so I don’t really bother bringing it up. You are better off doing your own thing.

I would take a hard look towards Lake campo, Campo pass, Oak river bay and Ameda pond. Fish any wind blown points that have some current coming across them. Bounce around until you get bit. The water down there is dirty so you will have to probably fish with some live or dead bait. You can catch them in some very dirty water so dont get too discouraged if the water is filthy.

If that area doesnt produce I have also done very well in the spring in the Lake John area and in the ponds coming off the twin pipeline just north of lake john. Same deal, wind blown points.

Good luck, hope you can get on some!

I have not fished Grand isle this spring, but I typically like to fish it a good bit this time of year. The first week in May that past few years has been very good in that area. I have done well fishing in a lot of the bays north of bridge side. Normally get them in 8-10ft of water bouncing a jig on the bottom, with a good incoming tide. Side Note: There was a ton of shrimp boats right around Caminada pass yesterday catching a ton of shrimp. Looks like the shrimp are finally starting to show up down there.

I have caught some at the Hopedale dam. Never had much size to them but have caught a few that would keep. The rigs around belle pass typical hold some mangroves and it is not a very far run at all.

Believe or not I went on a little night trip last night. Caught a couple nice fish but didn’t have too much tide. I think on the right night you can go do some damage on the lights in Lake P.

As far as sky conditions, It really depends on where I am at. In Lake P all of my best bites have been when it was a clear sky and a lot of sun. Fishing shallower water I definitely like overcast conditions.

I have tried to pay attention very closely in the past on how the fish react whenever we have a full moon. The one thing that has helped me notice their behavior is road fishing. You are very limited in road fishing on where you can go. So many times I will be where I know the fish are at and wait out the bite window. It seems that the days leading up the full moon especially during the summer the trout go crazy. Now for fishing the day after a full moon, you will have sometime of morning bite. Then I have always noticed fishing will pick back up around mid day. A lot of time after a full moon the bite window is also a bit shorter. I saw this in this past weekend release over 20 tournament. It was a live leaderboard so you could see whenever everyone else was catching fish. Everyone caught good til about 8 and then almost no fish were weighed in for almost 4 hours. At 12:30 I got on a good bite and ended up catching a limit. I checked the live leaderboard and everyone else was catching again too. Seems to be more of a mid day bite day after a full moon.

I have run both of those routes and have never had any issues. The second route I run quite a bit. When the tide is low some of the ponds can get pretty shallow but if you stay on plane you should not have an issue. I run these routes in a 24ft triton so you should be just fine.
