You are definitely in the right place. I have a couple buddies that are lethal in a kayak. Its a great way to really learn an area in depth as range is usually a factor.
I use one on vacation every year and there’s nothing better than being towed around by a red.
Take the courses.
Fish the conditions.
Keep a log.
One of the things I did when I fish started out was draw the contours of where I was fishing in a notebook and note where I caught fish, and where I was in relation to the fish/wind/tide.
Some days are gonna be tough and others are gonna remind you this is a world class fishery.
Ps. – Bayou Sauvage has some big gators. I got stalked by one and had to bop it on the head with my paddle right after this video

I think Devin said atleast 2 years. It sucks because this summer/fall was so good it was really lining up to be a record year. I think the lake is still gonna be producing but I’d be surprised to see the marshes come back to where they were in the fall anytime soon.

Man this report gives me some hope. Good on ya C&R.

First last cast lol. No truer words have ever been spoken. Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the report. I have been seeing people scratch out boxes around where you went but they all stated it was a grind.
I love a good bass bite.
I think Lake P and Borgne are gonna be the only ones that are gonna produce this Spring/Summer so that will make it tough. I also think the barrier islands (Breton, Grand Isle, EBM, Venice) may also be alright since they’re MAY have been some offshore that were unaffected. But who knows?

Yall, it is bad bad down here. I’m seeing hundreds and possibly thousands of dead redfish, trout, drum, and sheepshead. This is gonna hurt. I’ll post videos later, still on the water.

I typically keep an ice bag just to keep my live well cooled down during the summer. Throw a handful in every other stop and you’re good.

Sounds like a broken sheer pin on your trolling motor.
Yep, last time I broke it was actually the last time I was in PS. I had the right tool to remove everything and almost fashioned a pin out of a straightened hook but I felt like I was burning the morning bite so I moved on. I should grab a 5 pack for boat, or a 12 pack for myself. I didnt see homie in the Natique catching either which usually makes me feel better, but it didnt.

thank you for the feedback kind sir
“Have you ran this route before? I assume you’re good running through No Man’s Land?”
I have, and I am. The great thing about the skiff is it only drafts about 4″ while running although I did modify the route to cut through the marsh vs. around it. This was from an old map I had running down to Grand Isle so it made sense at the time.
Have you ran from 14 to 15? Looks sketchy.
Never, I’ll report back if it’s good or not. If not I’ll be pushing.
“Spots like 22 I would give very little time (or skip) because I’m not sure fish will be there now that it’s warmed up significantly.”
I have some on here as a “just in case I can’t find them shallow” alamo.
#3 is interesting. I wonder how deep it is there. That could be a great bottom stairs spot. It could be good right now.
It will be hit or miss. Last time I was there it was popping with shrimp, which you know the story there, but I’m gonna give it a try. I’ll pole it and report back.
“I think you’d be crazy not to hit those stumps by Bayou Grande.”
added and updated the kml, thanks for the reminder!
“I would cork the daylights out of Bay Lanaux.”

Open in the chrome. That’s where I made it since it’s on my work computer and I don’t want to download personal stuff on there.
