And certainly not looking to debate – I don’t feel strongly one way or the other about CCA – but just one first hand data point regarding CCA: I have personally observed that LDWF relies heavily upon CCA as a source of information for angler input to preferred reef locations.

Any preference between reds and trout? In general, I like the Ludwig plan best of those three options – you’ve got the rock jetties, both fifi and the island to the west of it, and the marsh west of the launch as options. Hit the rocks and islands for trout, hit that marsh off Grand Isle for reds. I do think there are trout to be had from kayak from Grand Isle Marina. Not sure where exactly you’re talking about for the bridge launch, but sounds like it’s to the west and marsh focused – if the wind is really 15-20mph from the north or you’d like to focus on reds, this might be the best option.

What range of water depth are y’all looking for the snapper?
Can you tell us more about MRTIS? Were you just using the free trial? Seems like the monthly cost could pay for VHF with AIS pretty quickly, but other functions that make it preferred?

Okay, this is very interesting and extremely helpful. Thank you for the detailed response. The one time I’ve tried in the past, I tried more of a Carolina rig, and pre-rigged a bunch a couple weeks back. I’ll have to add some of these to the stock. Really using 1-3lb weights? Have a preferred bait? Thanks again.

Keep an eye on the satellite imagery – my take is that this area has been water more consistently – something with how the water flows. Definitely worth trying.
