The course materials says 68 degrees tell the trout spawn is coming but also says April. Water temps are already 66 at the surface (63 at 10′) and it is March 4. Do the trout use water temp exclusively or some combination of factors that trigger the actual migration, such as length of daylight. The course also says they move to the saltiest water of the year to spawn and need at least 15-17 ppt. Does that mean they will just get to that minimum or seek the saltiest they can find, thus getting closer to the pure Gulf waters (30+ppt) as compared to the interior islands and bays. I was also curious if once they do start to spawn, do they stay in that general vicinity or do they continue to move throughout the spawning season given it is quite a lengthy process. (PS: 101, 201, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Resources = completed)

I would also ask if the “trigger” is water temp, length of daylight or what? And if they migrate to any water that is 15-17 ppt and stop there or do they go to more in the range of 30+ ppt (Gulf)? Do they move around from area to area during the spawning season or hang out in one spot more or less? Finally, is there any evidence that they go back to the same place year after year, or to their place of conception?

Are you doing any presales on your book? Would love to buy some for friends especially if it is the 101 class in hardcopy. Excellent.

No problem enrolling here. Just doing the Spring Pattern class now.

I did see where the quiz grade is not reporting on my profile and if I click it the 404 error pops up. If I go to the winter class, then it says I’ve completed it and gives me a % of the quiz so it is in the system.

I saw that post from Devin too. I ordered the rubber bands and have tried the rig several times (heavy drop shot). Cool setup especially fishing rocky shorelines where you get hung up on a regular basis. I have just been using an improved cinch knot and it has worked for me. Plus it isn’t critical given the hook, and possible fish, is above the knot. 🙂 I will say that these little bands are super, super strong.
