@Devin All excellent points- really appreciate you dissecting that report. It had been so long since we fished the sound, it honestly did not occur to me we would need that heavy of a weight.
With regards to approaching rigs- this may be a dumb question, but do you feel there is ever a scenario where the upcurrent side may be more productive? Just curious what your approach is to methodically fish a rig?
Appreciate the discussion!
My brother is still down there fishing– This morning he worked rigs/wellheads around Bay Eloi that had previously produced for him with no success. He said the current wasn’t as much of a factor this morning. Caught 1 good trout at Deadman’s Island. He fished a couple of passes and points around Treasure Bay and Christmas Camp Lake and caught a few throw-backs. He went looking for redfish in a few marsh ponds but he suspected the water temp and low water may have had the reds pushed deeper. I think his plan is to try the Long Rocks tomorrow morning and work around the MRGO…

Sounds good, will check out more of the online content. I haven’t gotten around to sifting through all of the online coursework; however, I bought and read Boot State Specks cover to cover (excellent book, btw). My thoughts were to use the info from what I learned in your book to try to focus on a a dozen or so spots (protected points, shorelines, drains). Was just looking for general guidance on what others may feel would be a good use of my limited TOTW tomorrow afternoon, given the conditions. If I end up making a trip tomorrow afternoon, I’ll follow-up with a report.
