“but if you’ve read the other reports for this date, you’ll know that the bridges might have been the better choice…”

Sometimes you gotta just roll the dice… I had a similar experience recently also… Thank you for sharing!

Nice job Capt. Devin and awesome report! Looking forward to the video! It’s peak season at work (FedEx) this month and I have to work Saturdays… Sunday will be my only day off, so we’ll see… Thanks for the report!

I used to use the muffs on my first boat, but I had to keep pressure on them with my hands because a lot of water was escaping around the edges. I would sit there and hold them for a couple of minutes after it started pissing (2018 ETEC). I have a 2019 Yamaha 250 now and use a 55-gal plastic barrel cut in half. I believe I let the muffs go with my other boat I sold. Either way I’ve been using the barrel mainly because it’s much quieter. I’m fixing to drill a hole in it so I can install a boat plug and make draining easier.

Modis has a pretty good image from12/12 (I’m still unfamiliar with Geoshere). I would take a SWAG and say some of those leeward shorelines should be pretty clean…

Yes, we ended up in Southwest Pass but you really dont have to go that far. Any rocks near “The Jump” has plenty of potential. I would start off close and work my way out. My nephew and I were on a every cast bite in the river just south of Baptiste Collette (1/4 mile maybe). Was casting at the rocks with not much action, and then found them 30 to 75 feet off the bank in and around the 20′ depth range. Something about that spot??? Then I remembered last year we found them in the same area, same way. Drifting the rocks and just happened to cast in front of the boat to get that good presentation and BAM! Hope this helps… have fun! Forgot to mention that was on the east side. Southwest Pass was on the west around the first outlet.

I believe the best fishing right now is in and around the river. No need to venture out unless you’re exploring. I know it has to be a killer ride but once you get there you the boat ride is nothing. You are there!
